Root Apps not freezing with .602?

Wally World

Android Expert
I am having a hard time freezing the bloat apps on .602. I will freeze them with TBU and reboot only to find they are still there. Any ideas? Are there some that might be resistant to TBU freezing? Didnt' have any issues with this on Froyo.

Little thread bump for you here, Wally.

That certainly is a little strange... I can't test this for you since I'm still on .596, but hopefully another kind soul that's already on .602, can.

You've certainly still got the somewhat less-attractive alternative of simply renaming the .apk files (I wouldn't delete them, of course) until a resolution or explanation is found.

Freezing an app actually involves a call to the PackageManager API which certainly should not have changed since you didn't change versions of Android...

Its almost like you are not rooted? But that surely can't be the case...

Anyway, hopefully, someone will do a quick test to see if they are experiencing this, too.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. I am able to go to root explorer and rename then but it using TBU is so much nicer. Strange.

So where's the Rename button? I'm on rooted Froyo and have Root Explorer. Yes, I've tapped the Mount R/W button but the menu button does not bring up the Rename choice - only Copy, Move, Delete, Multiselect, etc.

Well, I don't have Root Explorer (I've always found other ways to get there, LOL), but in the other, various file explorers I've used, there's often an edit function that will allow you to rename.

For example, in Astro, you have to long-press the filename and select "Edit" to see the Rename option.

ES File Explorer shows the Rename option on first long-press...and so does OI File Manager.

Hope that helps.

I've had this DX since November and I'm still not accustomed to the longpress technique. Doing that on my Storm2 made triple-clicks and quad-clicks...

I'm on 602, froze a bunch of bloat (city id, blockbuster, facebook, myspace, etc) in TIBU and after rebooting, none of them show in my list of apps.
