Help Apps only download, do not install

gwhitevt

Newbie
I have had my Fascinate for about 3 months. Other than waiting for 2.2, I have no complaints.

Recently (however) I started having an issue, if I try to install an app from the market, all it does is download, after it downloads, I get the "install" button, which I click, and the app simply downloads again.

anyone else seen this?

thanks.

yes. very annoying. I posted this under troubleshooting, but no response. I will show up under my downloads, but says "free" or "$X.XX) instead of installed. then i go thru same thing over and over.

I've only noticed it when battery is low, but if I turn off phone and back on, it works so can't really be low battery.

Is this problem now always occuring across the boards. As in not any single apps DL? Also if you have/use Google Talk try and open it and see if you get an immediate close. If you do you have a semi-common problem and you will need to clear cache from the Market [Settings>ManageApplications] and maybe even more. But start there

SAPS Thanks. but I dont' see any options to clear my app cache in the path you indicate. any other thoughts on where to look for this?

Thanks, I found it, however it did not solve my problem. :-( my device is registered with Samsung -maybe I will chat them up for support.

Do you have the google talk problem?
If so its a prretty big deal something is amiss with your google settings hence the market DL is non-functional. You need to uninstall and reinstall market app. BTW which market do you, have like version is it?

I chatted with SamSung support. I had down a full power off, and reboot which did not fix the issue. They had me do a battery pull, which did fix the issue. Remember that I had also cleared the cache.

Google Sky installed properly. I noticed that going to the "downloads" page also force a refresh of apps, and might have helped, typically, the app downloaded, I pull the windows Shade down and access it that way, but for some reasons going to the download page seemed to help.

I will keep you posed if it comes back.
