Apps that run great on the NC

cabbie

Android Expert
Launcher: Zeem or LauncherPro. I prefer Zeem, the large touchscreen makes Zeem shine.
Twitter: Twidroyd. Just awesome, maybe the best running app on my NC
Mail: K9, because gmail has only gotten enabled temporarily by a few advanced users
IM: Nimbuzz. I'm open to alternatives to this, because typing on the keyboard sometimes leaves the 'entry' field blank until I hit send.
Browser: Dolphin. Works beautifully.
File system: Astro and ES. Both are good.
IRC: AndChat. Works great.
Youtube: Gingerbread youtube.apk

Utility apps: No Lock, AutoRotate, setcpu, dropbox, system monitor, realcalc

Games: Wordfeud, angry birds, pocket legends

How about the Kindle Android app? Something about reading an Amazon Kindle Edition on a Barnes & Noble Nook that just makes me giggle.

So, are you using EStrongs File Explorer to manage uninstallations of apps? Unless, it is possible to uninstall apps via the Android Market like I can on my smartphone, I was going to use EStrongs for that purpose.

Dolphin HD browser has visible tabs I think. I hope to give that a try on mine because the extra screen space seems like it would accommodate that well.

it works fine from what i hear. but dont buy from amazon, i dont think anyone should support proprietary formats

Barnes and Noble uses proprietary formats for their ebooks. A Nook Color is designed to read said ebooks. Therefore you should not purchase a Nook Color. At least not by your logic.

Barnes and Noble use DRM not a proprietary format. There is a difference between these two things.

I guess I'm confused on what the point is then. Amazon uses DRM encoded proprietary formats on their ebooks. Therefore you can't load ebooks purchased from them on other devices. BN uses DRM encoded non-proprietary formats on their ebooks. Therefore you can't load ebooks purchased from them on other devices. Both the Nook and the Kindle let you side-load non-DRM encoded devices purchased from 3rd parties. I'm not sure what the point is as both devices are functionally the same in terms of what content you can load on them.

Cabbie, I would love to know if you had to do anything extra to get Wordfeud to work correctly. I rooted my nook yesterday, which was extremely easy, and I have been able to get most apps I want to work with no issues. But Wordfeud just gets stuck at the password screen. I enter the password, it goes right back to the password entry screen. Anyone have any ideas?
