is there any way to move apps to my sd without rooting?? i'm so nervous about rooting wrong that i still haven't done it but i am fed up with the "low on storage space" issue....ANY help is appreciated at this point, thanks all!!

I was petrified about rooting my phone, too....but I finally took the plunge and did it with Universal Androot, which was pretty much a one-step process. I LOVE my phone now! I got rid of several of the Sprint programs I didn't want & now it's so fast! And I'm still using the original ROM. Of course, I still want to be able to put apps on my SD card, so I'm going to have to brake down & flash a new ROM, once I decide which one to use.

Good luck!

i have been trying so hard to keep up with these forums and understand everything u just said but i'm still a little wet behind the ears i guess b/c that still sounded a little foreign!! that's encouraging that you said you were nervous and that one's easy tho - i'll look into that one. maybe a stupid questions but i know i have to do a back up and i'm assuming this is thru my computer, is that root process compatible with windows 7 64 bit? we have an xp machine too so it's not terrible but i'd rather use my own computer to work magic on! ;)

You can still get the Z4Root app and sideload it to your Sprint HTC Hero: Download z4root.1.3.0.apk .

Just copy that to your microSD card and then open it in a file explorer like EStrongs File Explorer and install it. Make sure you have "install from non-market sources" checked in your settings.
