Archos Confused

I'm new to the droid forums so I have two quick question. Pardon me if they have been answered somewhere else.

1. Has the Archos 70 or 101 been released yet in the USA?
2. If so, what retailers are they available at?

Take care

Rumor is showing up at Tiger Direct warehouses tomorrow and Wednesday... so lot of folks hoping to see tracking numbers in next few days... Earliest arrivals are said to be with 2.1 with sticker saying upgrade to 2.2 in November...

Archos has been HORRIBLE about getting information out on these....

I don't think anyone has a clue when they will arrive or ship....

I am eagerly awaiting the 70....

Personally I'd love to get my hands on a 101 before making a purchase decision. Given the way things are with finding Archos dealers I'm not going to hold my breath.

here in NYC two companies that will have them are J&R Music and Computer World and B&H Photo Video. I like B&H a tiny bit better. Online, you either have the company itself Archos or Tigerdirect.

Tigerdirect has been confirmed of gettign them today and by the end of the week will ship them out to pre-order customers.

i myself would like to get one, but i will hold up till i can see both at the B&H store to see which one actually feels better in my hand.
Although Sprint just announced that the Galaxy Tab would be sold for $399, that price does not include the extra 30-60 dollar data plan.

Pros having the Archos:
Smaller, lighter, thinner
Cheaper in the long run
able to run every multimedia format out there
Pocketable (using the 70 version)
Adjustable kickstand (both the 70 and 101)
Not stuck on a 1-2 year plan tied to a carrier

Cons having the Archos:
No 3G or 4G service
Having to carry an additional device for 3G/4G service (EVO, mifi, etc)

Cons that can be fixed:
Access to Android market via hack
Android 2.1 upgraded to 2.2
Access to Google Apps via hack

There's probably more, but these are the ones off the top of my head.

already have my archos 70 here in the US. if you check out their store, it seems to go in and out of stock. I missed the first go around and got in the 2nd. Received it yesterday for $256 and change.

You really should have had yours reserved. It'll be december before they catch up with the backordera so I'm not expecting these to be in stock in stores

the archos.com store doesn't do pre-order so its first come first serve. i will be getting one there on thursday :)

so preorder and pay full price? Archos was running a 10% discount bringing the 70 down to 256 and change shipped.

This is a licensed Canadian Archos distributor who ships to the U.S. and Canada and takes pre-orders. U.S. shipping is from a site in the U.S. Also throwing in a free HDMI cable.

Here's the site:

Mp3 Players and other Hi tech products

i had a preorder from them and cancelled because i will get it quicker from archos.com i believe. they have good customer service and all i just would prefer to do business within the u.s. and like i said i think i can get my hands on one quicker if i get straight off the website.
