Are calls to VM customer service free?

I hit *86 and noticed when my minute checker popped up it was counting down the minutes I have left til next cycle. Really, a CS call isn't free? I've also noticed that when someone leaves a voicemail, it counts against your minutes, as does calling voice mail (unless I'm somehow mistaken).

It should be free. Wait till after the call and see if it doesn't refund you those minutes... if not, I would definitely be using a land line to call them back.

Yes... calling from your cell to check your voice mail does indeed eat your minutes. Use a land line to call your phone and check your voice mail (when you hear your greeting, you hit either the star or pound key.. can't remember which, and follow the voice prompts).

I am using minute checker, that's how I noticed. That's also how I noticed when people leave a voicemail, it uses your minutes. That's ok, I was just wondering if anyone else knew about this. I have a friend that leaves SUPER long voicemails, and this is where I first noticed it.

I've never seen minutes drop when checking minutes or receiving voicemails.

Nothing goes onto your account when a VM is left, only if you check it with your cell do they charge minutes.

As mentioned, I am using that app. My friend that left me the five minute vm was def deducted from my minutes. It's ok, I'm not going to use the $35 plan again, that was my mistake. If I had the $45 or 55 plan, this would be a non issue, so changing to that at the next cycle.

I go to my Google Gmail account and can make all calls in the U.S. for free. The only time I need to use the minutes on the "V" is when I'm away from the PC.

I've never seen that unless I called my VM using my cell phone. Otherwise if someone wanted to piss you off they could continually leave you VM's to waste you minutes!

That's exactly right. My buddy left me a FIVE minute vm and although he didn't do it to screw me, it used the minutes. That's ok, this really only affects the $35 plan anyway and I'm not gonna go with that again anyway.

Try calling VM customer service with 611, when I had my Optimus V, I never had minutes deducted by calling 611. And yes, calling voicemail does cost minutes, you should be able to check it from another phone by calling your number and hitting * however I have not tested that on VM, I just know that's generally how it's done.
