Are Obama Phones Real?

You do realize you can take a nice european vacation, get the surgery done, and have money left over for that heart surgery right? Medical tourism is a sign the system here isn't working.

Don't let the prices of a broken medical system make you think its impossible to have universal health care. But yes, I think 150 million people splitting 300k sounds better than one person being stuck with it, in order to live.

The funny thing is you end up paying for it either way. If someone doesn't have insurance and goes to the ER, the ER has to stabilize them. When they never pay the outrageous hospital bill(2 grand for a shot in the ass and a 6 hour wait?), the bill gets footed by you..

id like to see insurance companies allowed to compete across state line.
deregulation is the key
is there really a diff between selling a policy in PA and MD?
it would allow for larger risk pools and cut some overhead for the corps

They can take my cell phone, as long as they don't plan on calling me using my PERSONAL cell phone, especially when I'm on vacation.

I don't care how much it costs them... they can wait for me to get around to checking my messages on my house line.



In all honesty, everyone already has a cellphone anymore. A past employer (private company) didn't provide cell phones, but paid a part of your monthly bill for you. It was like $10-$20.

They did that because you used your personal minutes for work.

I would personally prefer to see this happen as opposed to having them pay for the entire cellphone.

thats one way to do it, and an efficieant way. many people can also get up to a 20% discount by being employed with the state, maybe its 25%

and really did 40% of state workes need cell phones? maybe 15% asa guess

I believe they have become a necessity, as far as a means of immediate communication. Everyone should have a cell even if it only dials 911.
And because you are low income does not imply criminal activity. Let's not stereotype. And how does owning a phone make you less productive? Businesses buy phones for their employees to increase communication and ultimately production.

I think you are overlooking what this program aims to do and focusing on the physical device. Hell if there was Obama-smoke signals i'd be for it if it helped us communicate.

People don't need the latest and greatest cell phone, no... but anything with a radio and buttons will do.

It's workable. Similar to I.C.E. that Verizon phones use.

but i do agree people can be frugal in that area. I suspect this won't be a long-standing program though as the gov't will realize this also. Its Not a bad idea though

Texting? Texting shouldn't even be an option.

Cell phone for (extremely limited) incoming calls (for a job, I suppose) and e911 calling? Ok fine. I'll buy it. But dialing out and offering discounted plans? There's absolutely no need for that.
