are we getting 4.0 ICS?

Just wanted to know if we Galaxy S2 users are getting an update to 4.0 ICS android.

If so how will this happen? Do we have to manually upgrade it? Is it only on the newly made S2's?

Sorry if this is a frequently asked thing. I'm really new to this all.

Thx.

It will be available through custom ROM's within weeks of launch I would guess. This will require you to be rooted and a manual installation.

That will be followed by the official, regional updates for unbranded phones sometime later, maybe months. It will be available via Kies as I doubt that a complete firmware jump of this magnitude will be done OTA.

Sometime later, much later usually, will come the operator branded firmware. This will depend on the speed at which operators incorporate their own firmware and return it to Samsung for release. Again, I anticipate this to be via Kies.

Hope this helps. :D

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it, but it's good to hear Samsung plans on releasing it to the gs2 at some point.

What happens to the softkeys in ICS for all these older hardware button phones, does it simply not appear ?

So what advice would you give me... I don't know anything about Roms (or even what they are), wth rooting is and why I should do it...

Should I get 4.0 ICS through rooting my phone?

Agree. There is absolutely nothing to complain about with this phone running gingerbread and that's coming from a OCD ADD tech junkie, this is the first Android phone I have owned that just works and has an excellent design.
