Are you a Mac or PC?

Ah, no sorry you are wrong. Im using the language that my husband uses, and he is a senior software engineer, with a masters degree (that would be from an actual physical college) in computer science, so you cant tell me I dont know what I am talking about. Defragged means defragmented, blown away means the damn thing gave me the blue screen of death, so it needed to be completely formatted (blown away) and reinstalled, so do not tell me I have no Idea what I am saying, just because I say it differently, does not mean I dont know what I am talking about. Way to be a jerk.

Well, you & your husband are wrong <----Re edited because I was not polite

No you can't. IIRC, Mac OS is set up to work with specific pieces of hardware. It won't recognize everything. This is part of the reason why guys that build hackintosh machines out of netbooks and laptops tend to be limited to a few specific models, and even then sometimes they have to patch a work around for some things to work. Now windows, on the other hand will pretty much run on anything. Linux is somewhere in the middle (it will run on anything, but sometimes you have to make it work).

Last I heard, this is true. You can't install Mac OSX on anything Apple didn't personally brand. Unless it's a hackintosh, of course;)

Is this suppose to impress someone? We all know how to copy and paste specs from a website!

Can I breathe your air? :p

Mac here, I own 3. A Macbook, 20 inch imac and a 27 inch imac quadcore. I also have a copy of Windows installed for when I need that for a few programs. It all comes down to personal preference. I prefer OSx for many reasons and I much prefer iMovie and iPhoto to their Window counterparts, not to mention iTunes. Only run one Mac with Windows and that has to be decked out with all the latest and greatest spyware, adware, antivirus crap I dont have to worry about on the OSx only Macs. Another huge plus for Mac. Either platform is fully capable, just comes down to preference.

Windows does not need anti spywayre, malware, etc. I've never run anti virus software, and never intend too. My machines don't get infected. And on the slim-none chance that they do, its called a disk image clone. Everyone shoul have one, regardless of os choice.

The only reason you'd need multiple malware detector/anti-virus software would be user error.

OS X is less secure than Windows 7, btw. :')

99% of Mac users.

Why the hostility? Are you jealous? I'd say that a large number, certainly around 75%-80%, but no one is ignorant enough to believe 99%. I'd have to say too, I wouldn't blame the 99% who believed it, as I've never had a virus on my Mac, but several on my Windows desktop doing the exact same stuff.

If people took 1-2 hours out of their day and learned a few things about how computers work, most of them wouldn't get infected.

But as it stands right now, id say 90% of everyone who touches any kind of computer, has no clue what they are doing, and aside from powering on and maybe hooking up a printer, they are computer illiterate.

PCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCp for me!!

would love some knowledge on Linux or Ubuntu or whatevs... i like me some nerd learnin!

At home I have a Black Macbook that's two and a half years old but still runs respectably well though the battery when not plugged in either lasts the full 4 hours or half that. It was slightly more expensive than the traditional White version when released and I think it had a speedier processor. I also have an iPad I use for school (I teach politics as an adjunct and publishers send me e-books) and it's good for coming up with stuff for class and being portable.

At work I use a Dell Laptop running Windows XP, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 Ghz and 2 GB Ram. I've only been working here for six weeks and it's my first extended time with a PC in several years and I've found the time I've spent on it to be hassle-free. No word yet on if my large multinational employer will upgrade to Windows 7 anytime soon.

I like Mac's for their intuitive interface, seamless integration between Apple products and good track record I've had with using them for 3-4 years with few problems. I like PC's due to the plethora of programs, ability to customize and ease with which to upgrade hardware inside the machine.

Windows users running it without ANY antivirus or anti spyware programs? LMFAO!! I call BS all over that! Unless its a machine that never goes online, you are extremely ignorant and stupid to use Windows with zero security. I would LOVE to see proof your machines have no security on them

Just the simple fact that there are hundreds of viruses known for Windows and ZERO known for Mac in years makes the Mac OS far more secure in my mind. This whole "No one writes viruses for Mac because no one owns them" is BS. Tons of Windows users are switching to Mac daily and surely someone would have taken a minute to write a few bad lines of code and create a Mac virus by now....but no.

There are hacker conventions held in various places every year, they like to do tests where they try and see who can hack their computer fastest. Macs almost universally get hacked before a windows machine does.

True:- Gone in 2 minutes: Mac gets hacked first in contest | Mobilize - InfoWorld

The thing is Apple can be very slow to patch vulnerabilities in OS X. New Trojan Leverages Unpatched Mac Flaw

Myself, I tend to be using Ubuntu more and more these days.
