I don't root and I read about the Harman Kardon edition on the M8 so is it better to get that one even if you don't root?

For those at home, it means that the best part of the exclusively Spirit M8 Harman Kardon edition (available to others only with an s-off root mod and an installer contribution by yours truly) is now available for you.

That's a far superior DSP firmware, even for your regular music.

The best just got better. :)

The M8 Harman Kardon Edition sounds far better than the stock M8. If you really care about music and you're getting an M8 on Sprint without rooting, that's the one.

Now, instead of being exclusive to one edition only on Sprint, the M9 has it for everyone, with some improvements. Rather than HK software, now it's Dolby.
 
So their wont be a special edition all the M9's will have the Dolby 5.1 surround sound correct? I am into my music! People are saying the M9 isn't much different than the M8 but faster processor,3 Gigs of Ram, 20MP camera,Sense 7 a little bigger battery I'll take it. I've had everu EVO since the original 4G I want this one LOL!

Correct.

HTC became VERY aware of the popularity of HK root mod for the M8 and now that music love and more is included in every M9.

If they surprise us with a special edition, no idea what that would be about. They are aware that there's a demand for more pro features in the camera software, especially for very low image compression. I'd like to be all about that if it happens.

M9 is coming with a sapphire glass over the lens because of scratch complaints. Around 19:15 or so into the video -

One thing new (at least I believe it's new) with my lollipop update from Verizon for the m8 is the BoomSound with Dolby. Maybe I misremembered.

It's not in the Verizon Lollipop system dump so far as I know (but I could be wrong) and there has been some confusion about that. If it's not in your settings or your app drawer, it's not there.

I have seen one comment claiming it's in the Verizon settings now.

You did get an ADSP firmware update but I don't know the specifics on that. ADSP updates are not unusual for the M8, and not surprising for a major update.

(DSP as in digital signal processing, in this case, the audio firmware.)

If you can verify that linked claim, then you got it early and congratulations! :)

Ok well I hope I am doing the right thing but decided I do want the M9. I am not even due to lease till 11/2015 and my 2 year is 4/2016. But I happened to go to the Sprint buy back and punched in our M8's and the buy back came up as $255 and I have 45 days to return phones. So I hope April 10th the M9 comes out and it isn't delayed. But only bad thing is I have to pay the 500 to upgrade both of our lines out of pocket than get the 2 M9's and than once they receive our M8's my account will get credited $510 bucks. My plan is to just go into a Sprint store and add both M9's to my account since I'll have the credit coming to me. So technically it'll be like were just due for upgrades since were breaking even. We just have to buy the phone at the upgrade price which I am guessing will be $199 and Best Buy may have it cheaper will see. I just need to send in our M8's ASAP so the credit shows up quickly. Usually when I bill to account it's on the next months bill and if it is I am hoping the credit is their at the same time also.

I probably could've sold on Craigs List or ebay which I don't do and made a little more but this way is easier and I hope it all works out. I am excited now about getting the M9. I kind of like the Spiegen case with the kickstand but haven't had that brand before only used Seidio or Otterbox Commuter. My husband wants gunmetal again I do like the pink but it will be in a case alot so I may do silver I have to see them in person.

I'm in the running. Looks like a well sized phone, not carried away on screen resolution, I don't want that. I've threatened to go back to HTC for awhile now, guess I'll see if this is finally the year.
 
Guess I will get mine. Just ordered from Sprint- Full retail $701.46 +$36 activation "scam" for the Gunmetal Grey version. You have to be careful, because the carriers sneak in stuff if you get on those 2 year activations now. With a 2 year you pay for the full retail over 2 years (Easy pay), plus a $15/month additional upgrade "benefit" that is tacked on to the line charge. If you travel overseas they also restrict SIM unlock for 90 days unless you know your way around the international department.

The only way to avoid the minefield is to just buy it outright. It saves you a lot of money in the end.

I am lucky I live in Louisville Kentucky where the warehouse is. My phone is already at UPS here and ready to be delivered on Monday. I work at 2:30 so I hope it's here before I go to work than I am off Tuesday so I can stay up late Monday setting it all up. Usually we sell back our phones to store or already have them sold on Craigs List and I start from scratch. This time were sending our phones back to Sprint for buy back after we get the new ones so I can kind of make my home screens look the same as my M8. LOL! I can't wait to get the phone. I want a dot view case though like now LOL!

I have seeing the Dot View for pre order on Shop Android and mobile fun. But I don't see the burgandy color which I kind of like it's in the picture.Maybe that's the old M8 one. I like the solid color backs better too than the clear backs. I wish they would come out already. Best Buy tried saying they had grey ones but I bet they were for the M8 and she's mistaken.
 
I figured it out, I dont think the page was loading right. If I buy the developer edition, will i be able to just put my sim in an fire it up? I have a verizon now, coming from an m8.

I'd check w/HTC 1ST for compatibility with VERIZON .

I've never been on VZW,but,from what I gather,not only do you have potential hardware compatibility issues,if the IMEI for the device isn't pre-registered w/their system (a fancy way of saying a VZW-Specific Phone),you have a hoop or two to jump through to even have it "allowed" to operate on their network.

It looks like the rep who gave you that list only gave what looks like international LTE frequencies. The LTE frequencies that would be needed are these:
