Root Ascend help with some kinks mostly customizations

OK. here you go.
First, don't follow any of the regular Ascend steps to delete. They will not work with the Tapout. They took steps to block users from deleting or changing things.

there are 2 ways to do this 1. from the computer (sdk tools, adn shell) 2. from your phone using terminal emulator and root explorer.

This is for way number 2

Things you will need:
Terminal emulator
Root Explorer

Your phone needs to be rooted.
Welcome to the forums! thanks for the input!

Open Terminal emulator and enter:
su [ENTER}
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /cust [ENTER]

back out and go into root explorer
go to: cust/metropcs/us/app

click on an app you don't like and hold: click permissions and change to write. click edit and delete.

your boot animation is in cust/metropcs/us/media
your boot sound is in system/media/audio/ui

keep in mind that you have set the cust folder to RW
You will need to enter the mount/remount info for the folder "/system" instead of "/cust" to be able to mod any files in there.

When you reboot it will revert back to read only.

That will be 5 dollars please.

Thank you, Welcome to the forums.

I will do just that. You just dont know, I was about to switch this phone. when I deleted that virtual card app, i kept getting continuous force close messages so I had to reboot. I will delete the rest of whatever needs to disappear.

Thank you again :)

I finally got this to work...
If anyone is having problems, this is what I had to do..

after opening Root Explorer and going into the /cust folder, look at the top right of the screen. There should be a small gray box with MOUNT R/W printed. Press that. It should change to MOUNT R/O.

All my apps already had the Permissions correct, so I just deleted all the apps.. I still have Mail@Metro, Navigator, and metroappstore.. I'm about to delete those too and see what happens...

After I deleted the Virtual Card, I started getting a FORCE CLOSE loop.. If you're quick enough, you can power down your phone in the half second between force closes, and then just turn it back on, and everything should be fine... I'm guessing you can just remove the battery if ya can't hit the power off option in time.

Now... Onto making this phone awesome...

Its called CM6/7 but good luck with your attempt ;)

this thread has been very helpful to me.. just got the tapout a few weeks ago.. im trying to change the boot animation. Terminal Emulator, everytime i try to run it.. it says "The application has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". I have the phone rooted using z4root 1.3.0. i ahve been doing a temporary root.. should i do a permanent root? have rebooted and rerooted several times.. and it "stops unexpectedly" every time. not sure where to go from here.. i saw megageek post saying you could do this from computer using sdk tools. anyone know the commands? im somewhat familiar with this.. at least following the directions to do things this way.. any help would be greatly appreciated

also.. do i ahve to use root explorer? i ahve AndRootFile installed on the phone.. used this to change the startup noise.
