with the spectrum blocks from earlier that the gov sold I dont recal how the split went they both bought a portion but last week AT&T bought the 700MHZ spectrum from now defunct floTV so they basically doubled their spectrum

I believe I remember now. Verizon bought the C block of the 700mhz spectrum that had all these strings attached. AT&T bough the D block which coverd almost as much as Verizon's C block but at a substantial savings with not all the strings attached. Then they added the floTV spectrum and are just becoming more diversified with their future LTE offerings.

Exactly and do you know what kind of seamless handoff between 700 and 850 its gonna be virtually non existent! Also the depth of coverage in reinforced buildings in cities etc etc

Oh wow I assumed that these phones would support HPSA+ and LTE. Turns out its just HSPA+. Probably not a good idea to buy one of these phones then. Hopefully HTC has a dual core device on their LTE network.

LTE devices wont come out till at least quarter 3 and then you will only get the LTE speeds if you live in a LTE area which will be in big metropolitan areas first. so technically people should probably wait till next year for LTE handsets

I'm not bragging just pointing out ignorance. If you have the gaul to claim that an inferior network has 4G and your ignorant enough not to know that you sound like a tool while being a tool, then someone should point it out. Most guys in this forum don't go around whipping out their proverbial penises but everytime theres an AT&T discussion tmobile guys jump in with their smart comments and unfounded logic and its getting old. Like I was told once if you don't like what the topic is about don't just troll it to disparage the people in the thread. If your gonna whip it out at least know what the hell your talking about

Oic. Yeah I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to enter into a 2-year agreement until I can get an LTE phone.

I live close to Houston and we have "4G" from Sprint/T-Mobile. Pretty sure I have HSPA+ from AT&T since there are some areas where I get download speeds of over 3 MBPS! So pretty sure LTE would be rolled out to us fairly early (Guessing LA/NY/Chicago would be first but after that, who knows really).

Yes well you wouldnt get full LTE usage until 2013 from AT&T or VERIZON the only two that are rolling out actual LTE so even if you signed a two year with AT&T the renewal would be perfect for LTE phones

Yep good point. Luckily I live in LA and San Diego so I would get LTE right away but I do not believe AT&T has said anything about LTE phones, just mobile cards and tablets.

I would be happy with 3mbps on a regular 3g network.

Actually no its not! Until the recent ruling by the ITC WIMAX and all the 3G+ networks DID NOT reach 4G speeds which are supposed to be OVER 21mbps which WIMAX doesnt reach! Now when the ITU decided that the speeds these networks are reaching is a big enough reach over the current 3G speeds they stated that the term 4G for fourth generation could be used as the speeds are about 10% faster, although technically only Verizon and AT&T's upcoming LTE are actually true 4G networks the pthers can now use the name ,and that is why verizon and AT&T are using it as well. So like I said WIMAX is not really 4G thank you very much

Although I don't know how the recent ruling affects it, 4G requires (or maybe used to require) the ability to concurrently use voice and data as well.

Yea I dont know what the whole ruling is I didnt read the whole brief, does WIMAX allow that i believe not. I believe the EVDO still carries voice?

Maybe they realized the jump from 3G to 4G standards was a bit insane bandwidth-wise? I always thought so anyways.

I mean from a 200kbit requirement(3g) to 100mbits? That's a bit of a nasty jump don't you think?
