AT&T Aria coming June 20th!

so, looking at that picture...I don't see a flash...you guys?

and if I had to get the Dell Streak for more screen it would beat the socks off this old tech POS.

I'm thinking about just getting the Streak, just because sling mobile will look better on it (vs. any upcoming T Android offerings). Should look decent mounted on my sun visor.

I'm sorry this is total crap....

I in a lot of ways view this as at&t's way of pissing on android.... this must make a lot of iphone fanboy's day..

"great so now I don't have to feel bad for upgrading to iphone 4 because, its not like at&t is releasing anything decent!"

I have no problem with the backflip as a phone or even as an entry level android phone....

Rather than a decent snapdragon android phone like every other carrier seems to have.. They pass this thing off as an "android release"..

I try to avoid the "at&t and apple conspire against android" theories.. But, come on! this is pretty much ammo against android.. "why should I get android? it sucks compared to iphone!" ... and lets be honest here.... the aria is now going to be the phone that gets compared to iphone 4 on at&t..

I do not think I can say it any better than what Obi-wan said in Star Wars.
"These are not the droids you are looking for."

I predict that this phone will have zero sale next week. Not because At&t butchers there Android phones (from what I've seen with the backflip so far), but because the iPhone comes out the day after. Good job At&t. Just stop trying to release Android phones. Really, stop.

because the iPhone comes out the day after

Now to be fair, the Iphone 4 won't be released for a whole 4 more days. Most would consider this to be a very small phone, but yet it probably is a good comparison to the Iphone, which really isn't much bigger, but this will probably be free on a contract verses $200 for an Iphone 4, or more.

Wrong it is $230 with a $100 rebate. So up front out of pocket is more than an iphone 4 16gb. Which the final price is not bad having to pay more up front than the iphone just shows how much AT&T wants android to fail to me.

This phone isn't going to hold a candle to iphone 4th gen..

I don't even like iphone but, I'm not so blind to see that this phone is gunna be farrr behind the iphone... and considering price.. you may as well get iphone..

Anyone had any experience w/these before? I'm getting the sense they're not exactly rebate checks...

I have. It's a little difficult to keep track of all the dollars and cents, so my wife and I tend to use them at the grocery store (since our weekly bill is well over $100). Just make sure the check-out person knows how to do a transaction from more than one payment source. The card itself works just like a credit card.

Yeah, i got the same thing from my wife's Pantech Impact. $50 Visa card you can use it anywhere Visa can be used. I just didn't like the several weeks waiting for it.

Really it's just a scam, they hope people are too lazy to send it in, and they want this phone to look worse than the much more powerful iPhone 4 for $30 less out of pocket...sheesh.

Snipped a bit, and quoted for truth.

If you like the Aria, take my advice and buy it through Amazonwireless.com or Best Buy. (Note that it isn't up at Amazon's site yet. Hopefully that'll get fixed soon.) That way you'll get it at a discounted price without the hassle of the rebate.

I'm certainly interested in the Aria. I was thinking of trying Amazon. I imagine it will be pretty cheap on Amazon in short order, much like the Backflip was.

Yep. I bought my Wife's backflip for a penny while AT&T was still selling it for $200 with the $100 rebate.

also worth keeping an eye on radioshack.. I know in store they are sometimes regular price without rebate (so 130$) sometimes they are less.. like in store backflip was 99$ and online from radioshack it was free..

Yeah, if you look at their android page (Android Coming Soon | AT&T) it's pretty clear they're going to lock all their phones to only be able to use the official Android Market. Just use the SDK to install any apps you want.

I had seen what they had on the remake of the site I was just hoping they might change their mind. But I guess not. I am just feeling like I am being pushed to Verizon more and more. It just stinks since AT&T has the fastest speeds where I am at. But if Verizon does get the LTE network to cover all of its 3G base by 2013 then that could be nice.

Well that depends on where you buy it.

I have been an AT&T customer for about 10 years, but I don't buy devices from AT&T. The sad part is you can generally by an AT&T phone from Wirefly, Amazon, Wal-Mart, Best Buys cheaper than from AT&T directly. It is rare they are the same price. But when it comes to a Apple device, there are never any real sales (except when a new device is coming out and they are dumping the old model).

Maybe on release day (or the first month if popular), you might have to pay something for an Android device, but give it a few weeks. Even the EVO was price about $40 less on Wirefly than Sprint directly.
