Root [AT&T] Unrooting SG3 failed.

Hi guys, I'm rather new here just signing up and all and I could use a ton of help here. Recently I had rooted my phone to Cyangen Mod(P.S. I used the installer since I am a noob when it comes to this stuff) . It's a cool mod I have to say with all the features and stuff it has, but I had to remove it since I was going to get my phone checked up at the ATT store since it was eating power like a Dell Inspiron 1721 with Vista with no power checks on it. inside. So I looked online on how to restore the phone to stock and I followed the steps on this video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djcq5Wgf9zo

Everything went smoothly until at the end when Odin was suppose to flash the phone back it is stock state. I had gone to the rest room and when I came back I saw the phone had skipped a step in the video. When it was done flashing it was to go to CWM but instead it skipped to loading the phone up. So i had shut it off and did the CWM steps and rebooted. I did the intro for the phone when I saw I had no service. I can't call or text and the phone says there is no service. It keeps telling me to put in a SIM card when there is one inside. I've looked around and saw something about flashing in the wrong radio or modem for the phone, but I don't know how I could do such a thing. Also there is no sound coming from the speakers. I seriously have a sinking feeling I goofed reaal hard on this one somehow and I'm gonna have to hide behind, "I had a bug and did a reset and it went black and when I started it up again this happened," type of story which I'm sure ain't gonna save my ass.

I have another phone to revert to, but I really need this one since it is my main phone.

Here is what's in the about device:

Android Version 4.0.4

Baseband version Unkown

Build Number IMM76D.I7I7UCALEM

Service state Out of Service

IMEI Unknown

IMEISV Unknown

Device Status Modified

All help would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey there and welcome to Android forums!

This could be a rather easy fix by flashing the correct firmware via odin.

To continue the process, which carrier are you with so we can get you the correct firmware?

Hi Rusty Otter - Welcome to AF :)

It sucks when you spend so much on a phone only to follow instructions and it ends up making it worse. I've lost count of how many times my phone has been soft-bricked haha.

Removed link as it's just another version of what you had...

Boot into download mode on your phone, and using odin on your pc flash the firmware for your device from here - Sammobile SGH-I747

You will need to register/login to download the right file.

I'm with AT&T. I'm assuming we are using the computer version of Odin since the phone is technically part Samsung and part Cyangen, a monster which I have created.

Anyway - try this thread *here* - I'm not 100% sure it's going to be right for you - because based on your YT video link you have an ATT version, and these instructions are for the international version, but may still serve as a guide.

Best of luck - let us know how you get on.

I sadly can't use that guide, I should have mention I'm using the SGH I747, I'm very sorry.

I sneakily changed the link :P - try the sammobile site - the I717 is coming up for me as a galaxy Note, so they must share the same firmware - you'll just need to select the exact model and country you're after... then just download and flash via odin.

If you need any more help let us know.

Alrighty I'm about to begin the process, I'll tell you guys how it turns out.

Edit: Never I'll start shortly, I have to redownload the rom since my internet is shorting out. Why Cox why?

Well after waiting over an hour I was able to download the file for the rom but now it's telling me it can't open the zip file saying it is invalid.

EDIT: Nevermind I found a program that fixed the problem, I'll start Odin now.

EDIT 2: Nevermind, still looking for something.

I can't seem to open the rom file since it's telling me it's invaild and I downloaded two of them. Could you link the unzipped files via a drop box or a link?

Hi, it also tells me the file is invalid, or the folder is empty, but if I right click and select properties it says it is taking up 172Mb on the disk, really weird one this! Phil

I was hoping someone had an unzipped version or a zip file that would work

Hi, I have managed to download a perfect version of your firmware, but I don't know how to get it to you. It is 610Mb zipped, or 1.1Gb unzipped, let me know if you have any ideas. Phil

if the problem is because of a bad flash that occurred than it should...if it doesnt im not sure what the problem would be...it wont hurt to try though..these will bring your phone to stock like you attempted to.. me personally as long as you didnt take the 4.3 ota would use the 1st link because also sets the trip counter

Alright I'll try that then. It wouldn't matter too much since the warranty expired 2 months ago. I'll tell ya guys if that does the trick.
