Just tell the rep you want to keep it. If you got it anywhere besides att corp then go to corp store and the rep can give back unlimited data.

Yes, they were supposed to have them yesterday, but regionally they got scr#$wed. They just came in today around noon. My store only received 5 total. How that compares to corporate AT&T stores, I don't know.
 
I played with one at Best Buy today. In NJ you only pay the tax on the purchased price, not the off-contract price. Getting it Monday.
 
I have a couple of questions here.

First and foremost, I have 5 months left on my 2 year text and talk family plan. Can I get the atrix for $150 (off of amazon) now, by just adding a data plan?

Secondly, I get a discount on att's plan because my father is a professor. How the heck do I apply that discount on amazon?

Try buying from Costco for 119.99 & see if it's asking for member number..
I think it should be possible to order even if you are not a member..

I had used Costco Amex card so not sure membership is must..
 
In california they charge tax on the full price, atleast thats what radio shack guys told me...and tax on 600$ is a killer..........can someone post their final price with tax from CA if they purchased from Costco

tax is at least 8.5% here in charlotte, nc, which would make the total the same as purchasing at amazon right now for $129 so it's basically the same deal, except there's no member restrictions at amazon :D
 
(Corporate AT&T Store) ATRIX $129.99 on upgrade!!! (few steps involved) YMMV

Long story short, I used to work at AT&T years ago and know the ins and outs of it....

So here is how I did it...

Went to a corporate store and upgraded the phone as usual, then called up customer service asking to be transfered to the cancellation department. Told them that I want to cancel all my lines, explained how walmart is offereing the phone for $129 and I plan on switching to verizon because of the inconvenicne !

Customer service rep said go back to corporate store and tell them you want to use their "Price Protection Policy" and they should credit me it back.

I said no and said I dont want a run around, either credit me it or I will leave and without hesitation the Rep credited me the $70 back to my account...

Should work for most people as AT&T is desparate right now not to lose any other customers, esp to verizon!
 
Can existing att customers get an upgrade from Amazon, Costco, etc. anytime with an additional 2 year extension?

I'm not due for an upgrade til the summer
 
As far as I know, there is no way... AT&T will usually let you slide if you are a month or less away from an upgrade and will let you do the upgrade early and pay the promotional price... but besides that, no way to do an early upgrade through the 2 places you mentioned...

If you really wanted to push your luck, you can go to an "authorized dealer" who usually can find a way to get you a new phone w/a new contract but it will require them changing your number.... (this used to be called a "relocation" in our terms)... Basically it was a loophole that we got ppl who were already stuck in accts to get new phones and new contacts even though it meant we had to change their number but they didnt get any cancellation fees and all that....

I don't understand how/why AT&T won't let you pay them over $600 for a phone and a plan ANYTIME. Why the frick do I have to wait for an upgrade to get the Atrix?

I got my wife and I one from the Shack. Upgrade $149.99 per phone w/2 year contract extension. Will get hit with the $18 activation fee on next bill but only one not $18 for both phones, supposedly. Will find out when we get the bill. I'm in NH so no sales tax FTW!

I just tried to order online and it never asked me for a membership number did you have to give yours? My in laws have a membership but if I dont have to use it I wont.
