You can, and this has been discussed in the other thread. Me and others were able to go back to a nandroid of velocity. But know that this is an alpha build of CM7 and there are bugs to be worked out. So dont be suprised if something doesnt work to your liking. READ the posts in the thread linked at the top of this page before deciding to flash over to this.
 
I just donated $10.24! You should do the same. This is probably the best thing that ever happened to the Ally, and GNM is generously giving it away just like that. We are all really lucky (weather we acknowledge or not) to have someone like GNM in this community.

Could you clarify whether this is an official, CM team approved port please? I'd like to know if it'll ever make it onto the CM site officially.

I think the best we could hope for is it being listed as an "unofficial" port. But CM would never list it under the main "devices". Its not their build.

I think most are. Its still in alpha and from what ive noticed it has radio issues. This is something that will be fixed as time permits so if you need your phone 24/7 go back to velocity.
 
Once the issue with calls is resolved, I'll help test as well. I've got some personal things going on right now that require I be able to make and receive calls properly 24x7. Nothing else is that important.

Awesome as always, GNM - looking forward to trying this out further.

EDIT: Oh what the heck, it's a quiet night at work and the weekend's here. I'll try it out over the weekend. I'll have to google how to do a logcat!
 
I have decided that since i want to find a way of helping and using my skills with electronics, I will contribute to be a tester. I do love velocity and would love for cyanogen and devs mix stuff. i like trident's work as the other devs. Those babies would be geniuses :)
 
i knew this would happen but yesterday i restored my backup and part of it restored...to figure out my sd card had been formatted. now i dont know how to fix the sdcard but i do have a backup of the files its just my sdcard wont format....it says unsupported filesystem or media blank.
 
So I was wondering how development is coming along with this ROM? I saw Lonewolf's posts which indicate the version has been updated a few times but there isnt a link for the latest version to test. If the calling issues have been resolved I would like to test it some more.

1st off jeckels' QUOTE should of been posted in this thread and NOT the development thread, getitnowmarketing and Trident, have both made themselves clear on that.

2nd the UI speed in cm7 is VERY good, if anything, I would have to say that VELOCITY is a "lil bit" slower than cm7, then again I always did like the feel of the aosp roms.

I have been following the thread in getitnowmarketing's forum. Too many people are downloading this and expecting a finished product, and even more a posting useless stuff there. If you dont know how to file proper bug reports AND logcats, dont download it!!!! This has all been said before at the very beginning and again and again.

Keep that thread clean and too the point. I want gingerbread dammit! Do go piss of the person trying to make it happen!
 
Honestly... I think complainers on unfinished work should be banned. It's not even close to right for people to complain about something that is CLEARLY not finished. I know that Trident cant just go through here banning people... but it would do a lot of justice. I think someone needs to lay down the law on complaining and show that its not ok. Not just remove posts. Remove the posters creating the problem. They are the problem, not the Rom.

Edit: If they make a new one. Ban the IP.

Especially when a developer is given their own sub-forum for use in development of their projects and users won't abide by the developers rules in said forum.

Exactly I'm not complain and i know people have gotten mad because i posted a couple of times on the dev thread cuz i didn't see this one it was late and i was trying to get this Rom on my phone so wasn't paying attention that well. but I'm glad that they are porting this once on figure out the log-cat thing and all that I'm considering helping cuz i have always loved cm7.
 
hes taking a break from all android projects to spend more time with loved ones. he deserves it, gotta balance life :)
 
I have CM7 running on my retired Ally, and everytime my phone goes to sleep(screen goes off) I get blank screen upon awake? I have to do battery pull to get it back up and running! Anybody know a way to fix this?
I'm just using it now for an experimental device so it's not activated. Except for data via wifi. Thanks fellas!!!:confused:

You have to turn off screen animations.
