Root [Avail] Rooted, now no sound/vibration

I didn't want to clog up the root instructions thread with this...

I am now rooted. I downloaded the Titanium Backup app so I could move apps I've downloaded to the SD card to free up the internal storage. I had to uninstall Winamp and iHeart Radio first to make space to download Titanium Backup. My problem is sound related, so I don't know if that made any difference, thus I am including that info.

While I was working through the steps to root the phone, my wife sent me a text message. It notified with the notification sound. I have since lost all sound on the phone. I have no notification/ringtone sounds, no sounds in games, no sound playing mp3s in neither the phone's speaker nor the headphone jack.

Also the vibration is no longer working. I had the keyboard vibrate when I typed for each letter, no longer working. When I turn the settings for sound off, the phone would vibrate for a moment. It no longer does that.

I looked at all settings and nothing is set differently than I had before. The only thing I've done since rooting was to move a few downloaded apps over to the SD card aside from uninstalling Winamp and iHeart Radio to install Titanium Backup.

Any ideas on this? I don't know why sound would have disappeared from the root since I did get a text notification since right after finishing the rooted and had sound then.

Thanks!

This is really odd? Try movig apps back to the internal memory or if it doesn't work out Try deleting your apps one by one with titanium backup. Click on the app then wipe data and then uninstall. Reboot after each app to see if sound come back or not? This is definitely not a root issue. Some apps may become usable once it is on your sd card because it is forced.

Anthony, the answers to my questions are much appreciated, both here and the root thread.

I've messed around with reinstalling apps I removed, moving the ones I moved back to the internal memory, etc. Still don't have sound or vibration.

My question is, does the root need to be reversed in order to do a factory reset? I haven't done anything with stock apps/files, so I was thinking that doing a factory reset might get sound back. I just don't know if you can do that while rooted.

Or maybe unrooting and reinstalling Gingerbread as explained in the root thread would get it back.

Kind of drove me crazy not being notified all day today when the wife was trying to contact me while at work and I didn't think to keep checking the phone. Not only that, but playing poker while watching TV, I'm missing the vibration when it is my turn, LOL.

Thanks again if you have any thoughts on this.

No Problem!
If you have not deleted anything from the system then I say go ahead and unroot the device using the latest gingerbreak.apk. Then try a factory reset. Before tempting this go into titanium backup and click each app you forced to the sd card and make sure you WIPE DATA and then UNINSTALL the apps or else it may cause other problems.

If this still doesn't work out then reroot and put clockworkmod recovery and try restoring the stock backup I made in the other theads.

I hope this works out for you.

Just a followup, thanks again for the help Anthony.

I went through the root sequence again because I couldn't get the su file to go. It finally went and upon reboot, got my sound back!

So now I'm happy and off to remove some of the bloatware (I'm the only one in the world without a Facebook account, don't need the app, LOL.)

Thanks again.

haha No Problem.
I'm glad you got it working out again.
Facebook is a safe app to remove so you should have no problems at all. lol.

This happened when I rooted through adb (the dialer method was easier to confirm). After the first reboot, mine did the same, but after rebooting my device again, the user alerts turned back on. I thought it was just adb blocking things out.

I was using adb to see what all i could get into.

im still stuck with no sound any tips ive tried everything root, unroot, new kernel unroot new rom unroot new kernel tf card stock flash nothing
