Help Average time for Satellite lock

What is your average time for locking on Satellites with the Desire Z? I'm noticing mine sometimes takes a while to get an actual satellite lock. I try using Google Navigation and it gets my location via mobile network but it always says "Searching for GPS..." and it'll sit there for more than five minutes before anything happens. Makes it tough to use the Nav system if it's taking so long.

Is there an app that'll test your phone's GPS??
 
Ive got the same problem. I dowloaded a GPS Status app (free). What now? What does it do? I'm really sorry but im new with this smartphone thingy :)

In Settings-Display & Tools, turn on "Time to GPS Fix" and the app will display how quickly (or otherwise) the receiver achieves first lock. If the almanac is up-to-date and A-GPS is active this should only be a matter of a few seconds. I've just tried mine and it took 5s.
