Hi y'all

OK I feel like I want to start from scratch, wipe my phone, delete everything from my SD card, reroot & install CM 6.1 again. Why? well...

I) my internal & external memory (4gb) is near capacity. I've used cache cleaner, moved pics & videos, got rid of apps I don't use. I know I have unnecessary folders from apps I deleted (found a few) but I can't determine what they are & don't want to take a chance delete something important.

2. I can no longer access my 8/30/10 ROM from recovery, which
is my unrooted stock ROM. I flash to this to access sprint TV since EVO TV apk lags a lot. I have ROMs from 10/2/10 forward. I have the 8/30/10 ROM on my laptop but when I pushed it to my SD card I still couldn't access it from recovery of ROM Manager. Also, I think all the 7 ROMs I have is taking up a lot of space on my phone, which would clear up issue #1. I also know I need a backup of my stock ROM in case I need to take the phone to Sprint.

C) I haven't received an email notification or text message since the 23rd. As far as the emails, the only way I can get new emails is if I go to "Gmail->go to labels->all mail" I flashed to an earlier ROM today & while I didn't receive any text, I got email notifications. I deleted my old threads & asked a couple of friends to text me & got nothing. (now gmail says "no connection" on Sprint & wi-fi & I forgot I can't update anything from the market)

So I think I should start from scratch & naturally I have a bunch of questions.

1) Should I do a hard reset?
B. If I do a hard reset, will I revert back to 1.5 or 2.1?
III) If 2.1 will it make it impossible for me to root?
Four. Anything else I should know

As always, thanks for the help

A little of topic, can I delete stock text messaging if I have handcent?

I. Go to #2, yep you probably do not need 7 nandroids unless you are keeping them for fun. Personally, I only keep one nandroid at a time on my sd card. I feel it's always best when flashing a new rom to do a clean wipe and install. But that's just me;) I keep a new nandroid of my daily rom when I try something new.

As far as keeping a nandroid of your stock rom, this is always best but it's not the end of the world if you don't have it. You can simply run the ruu from Sprint/HTC and your phone will be back to stock in 10 min. Granted you will have to reroot but at least there would be no sign of your phone ever being rooted

C.For the gmail/email problems, go to manage applications and clear cache and data, then reboot phone. This will wipe anything such as ringtones and such but you should get a clean sync of your gmail/email. Same for your text messages, wipe and reboot.

You can run the ruu and return your phone back to stock 2.1 look here for the ruu's Hero CDMA - XDA-Developers (You may have to be a member of xda to download, just fyi)

After running a ruu, you can reroot. many one-click root methods out there;)

NEVER delete the stock messaging application

I would keep a backup of your original Nandroid on something other than your microSD card for safety's sake. For example, just copy it to a folder on your computer or something.

SD cards can fail or get corrupt and it would be easier to grab a fresh copy of your original Nandroid from your computer than redoing the RUU. Though, like andygu3 said, it would not be the end of the world either.

Thanks guys. Had 61 voicemails, & 47 text messages but none before the 28th. I had no idea the backups were taking up so much space.

@ LBPHeretic. I have a backup of my original nandroid on my laptop but for some reason it doesn't work & I actually have make a copy of my SD card weekly, just in case, but you know what they say about the best laid plans :D
