Root Back to stock ROM

I'm looking to send my Hero off to one of those "cash for mobiles" places after I got a new phone. I'm just wondering how I get it back to stock ROM and if I do that will it delete all the stuff I have on it as I don't want to send it back with anything personal on it.

Hi Dave,

The easiest solution would be to flash the most recent update for your device from the HTC support site here. That will overwrite everything in internal memory and basically return the handset to an "out-of-the-box" state.

It wont wipe the SD card though so dont forget to do that if youre sending it with the phone.

Is it possible to send the phone rooted? or would you have to return back to the official rom?

I heard those mail away places pay next to nil. Can't you do much better on CL or fleabay?

I just tried this way, but the computer RUU app wont pick up my hero
