Is your phone rooted? If so, here are some things to help you:

1. Install Titanium Backup. Titanium Backup allows you to backup all of your apps and associated data to your SD card. You can then copy the TitaniumBackup folder from your SD card to your computer for safe keeping.

2. Use a custom recovery. This allows for easy backups, known as nandroid backups, of the entire phone system. You can then copy these backups to your computer for safe keeping.

I'm not sure of the steps required for non-rooted phones.

No, it's not rooted, but I just had to wipe it for the third time and thought app brain had them backed up but I guess not.

not exactly sure what you mean by backing up? are you talking about apps? contacts or text messages? you can save text messages to the sd card which you can then move to the computer. as far as contacts go just link them to google. it will store your contacts in the cloud and will re-sync when you log in to google again. apps you can't back up onto your computer that is because any apps moved to the card via apps2sd only moves part of the app. some of the apps will remain on the phone.

now if your talking about then entire phone then you are talking about nandroid backups which only rooted phones can do.
