Root BACKside oddNESS

ever since the 01312012 release (the one i keep going back to cause it doesnt have this issue) every update i have applied since that one seems to "eat my memory". i dont understand it, i start with like 118-120 mb free space and after update it goes down to 74-72mb free. what gives? am i not doing something correctly?

yea ive posted this two places, sorry just trying to get a speedier response

That was an intentional move by the developer. Jerry relocated some of the files into a different partition.

The best place to post BACKside ROM problems is in the BACKside ROM Thread.
there are more members there that address and solve those problems, include the Dev of the ROM.

I think I can answer your question though. The Dev moved the Dalvik cache. Where it was, it was showing more memory than was really usable. Now it shows the actual memory that's available.

This was done deliberately. The ROM is not broke.

EDIT: Got Ninja'd

You'd be suprised what you could learn just hanging out in then BACKside thread. They share all kinds of new tips and tricks too.

yea ive been just hitting up the front page for the updates, looks like i need to go through the all 70 some of them

I have to go through there every now and then to find info I forgot (been with the BACKside ROM since day one). I've tried all kinds of ROM's but always seem to restore my current backup of the BACKside.

When I did try one of the newer versions of BACKside I just took the copy of 01mvdalvik from my SD card and put it into the /etc/init.d/ folder reboot into recovery and wipe dalvik and cache and then reboot. This moves the dalvik cache back to the system partition.

But I'm not a fan of the changes to the ROM post 01252012 so I stay with that build.

Thanks for the info MacFett. I've been sticking with the 01312012 build, till the quirks are ironed out. Might try your advice out on the next BACKside build.
