Root Backside ROM

I upgraded to the newest backside version and my phone has never been worse since. While listening to music i get a skpping sound every couple seconds, my screen goes half landscape and half horizontal often, and my phone freezes every 5 minutes. Sometimes it freezes on the home screen and whenever i push an app it changes sons. And i can black out the screen then light it back up. Alot of the time my messages wont send then the message app will force close then my phone will freeze. Ive tried turning off the overclock too but nothing. Is there any way to fix ANY of this???

Did you use the updater? If not, did you check the md5 of the download? Did you wipe dalvik and cache? Are you willing to wipe the data? Have you tried re-flashing the Rom? Have you tried the update wiper in the All things root sticky?

It's one of three things.
1. Bad download.
2. Bad flash.
3. Junk data not being properly wiped.

My advice is to double check the download, it might be corrupt. If it's md5 checks out then try flashing again. Sometimes the process doesn't "take " properly. Depending on the recovery on your phone, it may not have wiped all of the old data properly. Using the update wiper will make sure you have a clean start. Then flash your known good Rom. If all that doesn't get you up and running smoothly, let us know. :)

Another thing that will effect the install is the recovery. Make sure you have either the VM670NH_recovery.img or JerryScripts new Green Recovery.

The half screen problem sounds like the ICS rotation bug.

Settings -> CM Settings -> Display -> Uncheck ICS animation (don't recall exacts, I have an older version that doesn't have the rotation)

I dont have ICS. And my recovery is clockworkmod. AND im willing to do just about anything to fix this. As long as it wont take hours to get my phone back up and running.

You will need to give us all this info:
1. What is your phone's screen version (Hitachi, or Novatek)
2. Exactly what CWMod recovery version do you have.
3. Did you check the md5 sum of the downloaded ROM with the md5 sum in the first post of the BACKside ROM.
4. Did you check the downloaded Gapps md5 sum with the posted on the Wiki.
5. Exactly what pre-installation wipe and format steps did you take.
6. Did you install any backed up system data or apps from Titanium Backup.

Md5 is a number generated for a zip file to ensure every version of it is identical. If the md5 of the original and your file don't match then there is a problem. If they match the problem exists elsewhere.

There is a thread around that will tell you how to find out which screen you have. I don't recall the name offhand though.

Go you one better, you said you had updated to the new version. What version did you have before? Your recovery is older but should be sufficient for the job, if it was going to cause problems you would have a different set of symptoms. You will get the best performance by starting from scratch. Go back to Jerry's thread (the one you posted) and follow his directions for installing from another Rom.

Yes, I asked you if you were willing to do so, and you said yes so long as your phone gets fixed. How is it running now? Remember, it takes about three days for the Rom to settle in. Then you will start to experience the real world performance of your phone.

I didnt understand that md5 link at all...and i had BACKside-IHO-VM670-08102011
Just to be sure, you have downloaded a newer version now right?

That version is from August of last year, I've released over a dozen new versions since then, with a lot of bug fixes. ;)

i downloaded the one that was in the link that i posted up there. But still same problems already:/
Either you aren't wiping the old data properly (flash this, it will wipe everything for you, then flash the rom.) or you have a hardware problem. Did your phone run smoothly before you tried to update?

The good news is Jerry has implemented an automatic updater that will handle almost all of this for you. The next time you update will be painless (compared to what your dealing with now.):stickyman:
