Help Backup problems

Hey Dragonslayer.
I'm hoping you can help me. I saw you earlier helping with the Samsungs and it seems close to what has happened with mine. I have a Samsung Galaxy Prevail 3g that I want to update and got my Android data stuck in the sd card while doing a backup. 'Sigh'
I downloaded a freebee app that said they didn't restore the data files on the free app--that the Premium app does that. Sheesh! Grrrr:mad::mad:

I most certainly can do my best :)

I'm going to move this post and create a thread for you in the prevail forums.

Sound good?

Say, as I am new to this site, I'm wondering around trying to find my way around there in everything you know how it is you need to find your way and don't want to be lost I don't EVEN know where the Prevail place is in here... any way you can PM me when you are ready for me? I'd appreciate that thanks! Ginny. :o

Your in the prevail forum already lol

Mind telling me exactly what your trying to do and what error your running into so I know where to start?

I am running Gingerbread and have had my phone around 2 yrs now. I would go to update my firmware and it could no longer find them

Go to about phone and tell me what your firmware/baseband is.

Are you rooted as well? Or looking to take an official update?

I can no longer play my mp3 music or download anything or other certain activities cuz it tells me I don't have enough memory.

Before I backed up everything my Internal memory was getting pretty full (further reason to clean). RAM is around 1/2 full.

I've got it pretty much down, exception being my norton apparently, Google's store and play, Gmail, ebooks, text, contacts, storage. My caches are wiped. Couldn't figure out how get rid of the rest

I have an idea how to fix this but am unsure about the Android.
I would reset and go from there. Best case scenario: all would go back to regular. Worse: I would lose the Android files plus whatever else it kept back.

Sorry for being slow.

Best thing to do, transfer the files you want to keep onto your pc, factory reset the phone along with wiping your card, then put your files back onto the card

Tell you another thing I thought about: putting it in mass storage and making a partition in my PC (win 7), putting phone's contents there, for through them and transfer them back. Upgrade when I get them back to the phone. I don't think I could do it while still in PC, could I?

What about the updating part?

Excuse me for asking but I believe a stupid question is a question never asked: what is "wiping?"

Thanks again for your time!:o:o
