Root [BACKUP] Sprint FG11 stock-rooted+

Yes I do, but I'm not currently using this image. I made the mistake of fully restoring my phone before the idea of creating this image came to me.

From the sound of the problems people are having, I may have jumped the gun a little too early on releasing this. As soon as I can, I'll make a revision and re-post it. As of right now, though, I've only got about 20 minutes before I need to leave for work :shot:

lol just mark me and Dmajor up as ur testers :P

Ooh OK so we'll just have to reflash the from once you reupload the revised version. Its OK you can call in sick ;)

Hahahahaha, the only problem with calling in "sick" is that it means I don't get paid, which means I can't fund my AHHs (addictions, habits and hobbies), and this project falls under one or more of those categories.

Will do. ;) :D

Hahahah Ah darn it. Its OK I can wait :)

Alright, so the original post will be changing here shortly...keep your eyes peeled ;)

EDIT: can someone confirm or deny for me if this updates baseband and build, please? I don't wanna be spreading something that's not true....

Thanks :)

V2 is now up. Removed the link to V1 since it was causing problems, but still have the file if any are interested.

Flashing the rom will definitely update the build but the baseband will require you to find a way to include it, a nomal cwm backup will not include the baseband for others to flash.

So while I have not flashed this rom, unless you did something special to include the baseband... it will not update with this rom.

Thanks, Loota. All the more I've done is made a backup of my phone, and uploaded the results. I thought that the backup was a complete phone image, baseband and all, but by your statement, this isn't the case.

Guess that just means I've got a little research to do so I can back up my claim. ;) :D

It should be able to be done with edify scripting if that points you in the right direction.

so the new image has 2.3.6 and root (functioning) but not the FG11 baseband? and my next question is a newb one; what is a baseband?

EDIT: nevermind lol i tend to forget how to do my own research sometimes...

Im at school so i havent flashed v2 but i found a lil bug that i dont like in v1. Whenever i reboot my phone and even though its on silent the boot sound plays. It didnt do that with 2.3.4

Whats a baseband....again?

Actually, according to Loota (whom I trust), version 1 never had the baseband update, either. I just thought it did because I thought a CWM backup caught everything except the sdcard, but it doesn't.

@DMajor: I can't remember if it was with this phone or not, but there was some device I had that did the same thing (it very well could have been an ultra before the first 2.3.6 update). I can't remember where the file is off the top of my head, but you could move, rename or delete the .snd file associated with the bootup process, and that would keep the phone from making any noise. Loota's boot animation thread should say where the file is.

As for the baseband, I'm just stabbing in the dark, but going by the name, I'd guess it has something to do with the 2g/3g radio.

in lamen's terms the baseband is the little piece of software that runs the phones radio for signal so probably 3G/4G and wifi etc

Sorry guys, I don't know what's going on. :(

I tested the apps before I created the image, and everything was working just fine....

If you really want this and can't wait for an update, try re-rooting it and see if that helps. Otherwise, I'm at a loss for the moment.

it's all good my man lol. i considered trying a reroot but even with Loota's super helpful 2.3.6 root/cwm flashing guide using Odin i'm confused as too what to do where and Odin is alot scarier then the old method of getting root. i really wish there was a way to flash a phone's image to a computer running virtualbox and mess with it that way instead of risking our poor phones, i havent really looked but there might be a way mess with it all in a sandbox environment. that way you could see if the root took affect or not....idk im rambling lol.

If you've got CWM working just fine, then all re-rooting would entail is hunting down bads3ctor's tu_root_.zip, moving it to the sdcard, then flashing it with CWM.

As for an emulator environment, I believe the Android SDK has something like that that comes with it, but I'm not positive. mavrikmeerkat was kind enough to point me in the direction of getting me started with Cyanogen Mod, but the instructions were for a Linux machine, and I currently have a Winded

dual-booting with ubuntu is ez mode lol it basically does it for you. also a few weeks back i was going to install android on my linux side via virtual box but idk why i never did. it doesnt matter anyway since its not a phone image. i think u had to do a tweak to get the mouse to act as a proper pointing device since the android tablet and phone screens are based on finger static whatsitwhosits. and would u just flash said zip as a zip or is there a fancy catch? and what the hell is Winded XP? :P

Yep, flash zip as a zip...same as installing the module injectors for BobZhome's kernel, or the CWMKeeper I posted.

Hahahaha, it's a computer OS created by some company called MiniSponge, or something like that. :p

Aaah man cus i don't wanna mess with the phones stuff :'(
Thanks for the replies. I thought it was that

yeah i'm back on $hevrom for now too. hopefully xaelith will gt it tho.

If you guys are with Sprint I am still in need of a tester to update the baseband only. The plus side is you wont have to re-install anything after your done. PH8AL and I ate patiently waiting.
