I'm rather confused why there is no default option to backup my entire Samsung Infuse. And, I mean including the settings etc.

Am I simply missing it, or do I need to get an app that will do this?

Also, I have the ADWLauncher installed, but, I can never do a backup [with the options within it], it errors out all the time; 'error backing up'.

Any ideas please?

Thanks in advance

Full backups can only be done if rooted.

Eventually all apps will be backed up and automatically dload back to your phone, but The android system is still young. they began implementing this in 2.3.3, which the infuse does not yet have.

This is not jsut the Infuse...it is true of all androids.

Once you root you can back up a number of things with titanium back up or my backup, both apps from the market.

You can also make "nandroid" backups if you have a custom recovery...a full mirror image backup of everything on your phone at that time

...thanks, as always Mr. Ed.

I'm curious thought. When you 'root', if an updated OS is released, you'd have to un-root before you can update to that OS, right?

I hear Gingerbread is around the corner.

nah, someone typically "roots" the update, so you just wait until there is a "rooted" update ...sometimes only a few days, others a few weeks.
