Root Bad Service and slow Speed

ok.......i rooted my htc evo about a mounth ago and it seems as i still have the same service and same speeds......now the reason why i am posting this is because i thought once you root your phone you can pick up any service becuase verizon and att gets great service and speeds where i am so........idk
 
no...that is not the reason for rooting at all.

for one...att and tmobile run off of a completely different network.

though verizon is a cdma network, it isn't always going to be beneficial to use their network

can you be a little more descriptive in what your exact problems are?
 
Roam Control is in the market..
Its 4 bucks.. and forces your phone to roam (usually on verizon) when you need better signal. I use it all the time when im at home.
But before you go buy it, yes, describe a little what your problem is and what youd like to do. We can help you out.
 
^some people (me for example) don't benefit from roam control at all. I completely wasted $4 on that one hahaha

Now that you have it, it works great when you go to the store, and know you are going to be on the phone.. I switch it over. Verizon usually has better signal inside buildings.
 
not here lol. waiting to hear back from the op....I know changing the proxy settings has helped alot of people with this but can't really help if he doesn't come back lol
 
Sorry for taking so long......anyway yea i think i will just get that Room Control and try that......but one question about the Room Control.....Are there any extra charges with that??? and to answer the others.......i was just tryn to get my internet faster and a better network cuz everything i do with the phone is just slow compared to others i seen???
 
Well, once you get roam control, there are a lot of things you need to do and change to get the best benefit from it. Changing your PRLs and stuff. But you have quote-unquote "unlimited" roaming. But if you abuse it, sprint will cancel your contract in a heartbeat.

I switch to roaming almost every day, and i use minutes, a bit of data.. and its been ok. Just dont abuse it.

When it comes to prls, to get the better speeds, ill write back soon, im out of town.
But if your sprint service sucks, then roam control will give you roaming, which, if you have better signal with verizon, then that would be for you.
 
have oyu tried tried flashing ROMs after rooting. I'm geting things running faster since I flashed MikFroyo 4.4, has alot of mods in it.
 
Guys these tweaks and apps are all great suggestions. There may be a Radio problem..and it may be related to the latest software update. I have counted 7, 8 if you count my random issues with calls, 3g data, 4g data, or messaging in just the last 20 minutes of reading the forums.

Not to mention there may be no issue at all...which brings the question I asked...what are the speeds he is getting now...what were they pre root

there may not be an issue at all here

There was a recent post that a phone was taken to a repair center and the data provisioning was reloaded ..which resolved that issue with that phone
