I tested it on one of those 2D Bar Codes on the app section of the forums, but I wonder if it would work with any bar code like in a store.

It doesn't work as good as phones with autofocus on the cameras.

But not with small barcodes. If you go too close, the camera will gain soft focus and the app won't be able to recognize the code. That's why I can't wait for the Ideos. By the way, has any of you had problems finding google goggles in the Market? I heard the new version solves Sudoku puzzles. That's awesome

but when i first got my phone, i downloaded barcode scanner and couldnt get it to work. then i tried tag reader by MS and it didnt work.

i havent had any problems with my camera so i assume all is good there.

what might i be doing wrong?

does it open at all and doesnt read the barcodes? could be dim lighting or it could be that you are trying to scan a small barcode and the closer anything gets to the camera the more blurry it gets

both apps do load and camera starts automatically.

as far as lighting, the only place that i have tried to use is at my job. i work at the school bookstore and 2 of our walls are complete windows. lol so lighting isnt a factor.

as far as getting the code in, i hold the camera to the codes and i see the green lights showing an attempt at scanning but nothing happens from there.
