Baseball 2025

Tonight's game between the Blue Jays and the Royals was not on my MLB package or a local network. My son was over so I didn't really miss not seeing the game. He just left so I turned on the plex just to get the score and watch the remaining baseball games. Toronto 1 KC 20. I don't enjoy watching a blowout no matter which team is winning. I'm all about winning but that wasn't a game.

For the past three or four years, the package has been gifted to me by DirecTV. Part of their loyalty program. The last year they had the NFL package, I was gifted it as well. If I have to, I will buy the baseball package. I enjoy baseball that much and I'm ahead of the game with the gifted subscriptions.
I have ignored the NFL package once DTV's lost their monopoly. Do I miss it.. you bet I do. Am I prepared to pay the big bucks to watch the games.... Nope, count me out. I'll watch whatever the networks carry and be happy with my savings.

Again, I'm too invested in something that has little eternal value, so I am re-evaluating my relationship to sports.

Mankind today has many more leisure hours than previous generations. Self improvement should be the priority but entertainment seems to fill the idleness for most. Broadcasted programming is the most affordable entertainment. It can be done at home with family which is a plus. Personally, I choose sports to fill many hours of my free time. I love to read history as well, but the relaxing escape from boredom is sports. My wife loves to play games on her PC and watch crime dramas. We both enjoy the entertainment value of the TV and are willing to budget to cover the cost of that entertainment. With the tools available today, a person should concentrate on bettering themselves but it's very easy to just be entertained. The only value of sport and most all programming is to fill the hours of idleness. Right or wrong, we grew up with the TV and sports that were quick to strive to be entertaining and have edited their games through the years to remain relevant. Conspiracy theorist will say that the games and officiating are manipulated to make the games more exciting. And sadly, there has been an increase in expense to be entertained for the targeted sports fan. It has become super big business with mega dollars involved. I well understand your desire to step away and I wish you luck with your effort.

i love this time of year!!!!!! you have football, hockey and the NBA is set to start next week...and not to mention the fall classic in MLB playoffs.

and man what a game the Dodgers just had!!!!!!!! i do not thing i have and fingers left let alone fingernails....LOL

also who would have thought the Mariners would be up 2-0 to the Blue Jays.

I couldn't believe how sorry the Dodger defense looked in the second inning. Two over throws and a hot skip to Yamamoto covering first was flat ugly. They recovered and played a good game. The game ball definitely goes to Yamamoto for an outstanding night on the mound. Pitching an entire game in the playoffs is a rare bird and he did it with authority. It was quite an exhibition of skill and stamina.

I stopped watching. If the fam. is watching a football game, I'll watch, but that's it.

anybody watched the unicorn last night? what a crazy night for an individual to single handily beat a team by himself.....both by hitting AND pitching.

greatest SHOw on earth. i mean just WOW!!!!!!!

Game one of the series was a blowout by the Jays. Being the gross underdog, I found myself rooting for them. I'm very happy they won a game to be honest. Unless the Dodgers have a melt down of some sort, they are the best team money can buy and will win the series without much trouble. It's quite possible my prediction is off but I doubt it.

Everything was going OK until Snell went out of the game. He pitched ok...not terrible, but not great as well. Sheehan, however, was terrible and opened the flood gates. Too bad for Vesia and his family emergency. He would have been great in the sixth.... but family comes first. Or bullpen is awful this year.

Yamamoto is pitching tonight. He should be solid. And it looks like Ohtani is just starting to get warmed up. We will need his bat and pitching in this series.
