Help Battery, charger, or cable faulty?

My phone has been having a weird issue the last few days. Plugging it into the wall using the OEM charger and a USB cable, it does not want to charge. If I plug the same cable into my iPad charger or a Duracell backup battery, it charges fine.

What's weird is that sometimes it does work with the original charger. Just not very often. It also takes forever for the screen to come on and say "charging" when I plug it into the iPad charger, which makes me think it might be a problem with the phone itself.

Any ideas?

This may be an asinine question, but are you plugging it into the same outlet all the time when it doesn't work? Could be the outlet.

No, that is a good question. Usually the outlet *is the problem. However, I tried another outlet and it has the same problem.

Have you rooted your phone?
If not, try pulling battery, then hold power button down for 30 sec.. Reinstall battery.
Try a new cable. Try a new battery. If none of these work then the charging port is probably bad.

If the cable will charge your phone when plugged into the wallwart for an iPod or usb, then your phone is fine and your cable is fine. Well, probably. The thing is, what you describe is a classic case of wallwart failure. I'd try getting a cheap after market charger (any wallwart type with a usb port). Wallwarts don't go bad very often, but it does happen. Just my two cents worth...

I'm glad you caught that one. I had forgotten about the possibility of it going bad.
