Battery Chargers that Work???

I have bought two different external chargers from Ebay with no luck. Neither one would charge my batteries.

Is there a particular charger that people have used successfully?

Or if anyone has had a charger port replaced, what did it cost?

Are you trying to charge the batteries while they're in the phone or are you referring to external battery chargers?

When I owned the Triumph it seemed every charger I had worked to charge my phone. I've used Blackberry chargers, generic chargers, the OEM charger, etc..

Unfortunately, if you're trying to charge your battery via the phone's USB port, it is possible the charging port has gone out. This has been a common issue in the forums for this device. Hopefully, that is not the case and someone else can suggest a charger that works.

If you're trying to charge a battery with an external charger, then that is a different story :D

Make sure you are using the two outside slots on the battery. I have one also and the Moto batteries say "-" is in the middle but the charger needs the other pin to know when it is charged.

The one that I linked lights up when the battery is properly inserted, plus it's auto polarized so there's really no chance of shorting it out.

Been using this for over a year, first with the Triumph and now with my Evo, first one was defective, US seller immediately sent a replacement and apology: http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=200884929980

:( The link is for MP3 ear buds.

I did have one I bought from 2ndCellular that did not light up and the owner quickly sent me another which still did not work with my Triumph.

I did call a local shop and they want $50 to replace the charging port.

I made a little plastic cradle with molex pins that go through two holes, then epoxied them to stay put and flattened them. Line up perfect with the two outside slots.
Hooked that up to my BK Precision 1621 digital bench power supply. It only gives the battery the current it wants so I don't think it can overcharge it- but I still keep an eye on it.
I tried using leads hooked up to a little chinese 2x RCR 123 battery charger. Supposed to be good for 3.7v batteries. Hook up a depleted battery, light is red, turns green gradually as it charges. It would only charge the triumph battery to 80%.
So back to the power supply.
For generic chargers on ebay I do like this:
Battery Tester Capacity LCD Universal Charger for Li ion Cell Phones Battery A | eBay

rather than the ones which have just a fuel gauge thingy.

On batteries, last week I ordered this:

Lot of 2 New Motorola Triumph Battery FB0 2 Li ion 1380mAh | eBay

On saturday, it came in my mail monday, from Texas to California. Amazing, like they put 'em on a plane just for my order.

I paid $17.99, price is now $14.95 for two new real motorola OEM batteries.

$50 to replace a charge port, that's actually cheap if you realize the skills and tools involved. I got into mine recently, was able to access the area where the shell itself solders to the board, so I resoldered the two shell pins just for the hell of it. The ones for the connector pins themselves weren't accessible and what I did see looked like it would require a microscope.

SMT board repairs are not for the amateur, but the phone itself is not hard to take apart and is probably hard to screw up. (it was late and I dozed off playing with it and dropped it on the hard floor with the case back off. Didn't hurt it at all!) From the back inside the cover you have two T6 headed screws, pry the case halves apart with your fingernail or credit card (you can use metal tools but you'll gouge it up, takes quite a bit of pressure) Once it's split up there are 3 T5 screws over the port area to remove. It all snaps back together clean and easy. (T6 was the smallest I had, until Mr. Jeweler's file and Mrs. sharpening stone met Mr T6 driver)

Even though the charge port didn't get fixed, I consider taking something like this apart, attempting a repair, and putting it back together the same as it was, its own victory.

mine started to have a hard time charging about a month ago like that no chargers work unless i turn it a certain way

That's what mine has been doing and lead me to believe it was a loose solder joint on the shell. (prolly wasn't) It kept getting worse and worse with two different chargers. But get this- after abandoning charging it internally completely I plug the charger in tonight, as expected, not a blink of the red light at all. Wiggle it around, nothing. Then, leaving the phone end in the phone, but remove the USB end from the wall wart and plug it in my laptop?
Red light goes on, it's charging and I can wiggle it all day and it stays charging?
WTF this is the psycho phone from hell. I'd have trashed it long ago if I had the bucks. I do not appreciate being taunted and toyed with by inanimate objects.
It IS possible the difference is the higher current capability of the laptop's USB port vs the lower current of almost all chargers we're trying-YET some are reporting USB port issues when using their PC's. Maybe all our issues are different and we shouldn't pay too much attention to other's experiences.
Or as I suspected the phone is Satan's Spawn sent to punish us early.
