[Battery] Complaints and Problems

My battery lasts a good long time longer than my Storm2 or IPhone 3GS. Maybe these people just have defective phones. Maybe expecting to much? I have no issues with the battery at all.

there may be an expectations problem for some, but some others such as myself, there seems to be something wrong, not necessarily with phone hardware but perhaps with an app that is draining more power than i would expect... i've been trying to find the culprit collecting data and, as a sample, last night when i went to sleep for 7hr 21min of not using the phone, the phone logged 1hr 48min of "awake time"... now, i attempted to set all my mails to manual sync, but i failed in that since i received two notifications at night... i do have battery graph running which is supposed to pull once every 5 min, but that should be about a 8.3% awake time not 25% like i'm getting... during this time, my battery drained 12%, which is an improvement but seems a bit high for a time when i'm not using it...

so, was i expecting this phone to last me days of use through extensive playing? no. am i saying this phone sucks and i'm going to get a new one? no. but i do feel something is wrong and it may be one of the bunch of apps i installed early on to try out or it may be a faulty battery, i don't know at this time..

I actually think its the indicator that is messing everyone up. I think some of the people who think they're experiencing terrible battery life will continue to do so because they probably plug in at 40% without letting the battery cycle fully.

Yesterday on a fully charged battery I got 18 hours of time before it needed to be charged. In that 18 hours the only thing I did was make 4 phone calls that totaled 19 minutes. I am nit sure if that is good or bad.

thta is great compared to what i get, seems like you are not having the same issue. wanna trade phones? ;)

I do not believe this is the issue. If so, there would be the same problem with my TP2 battery. It has been off the charger now for over an hour and still shows 100% ! I am leaning towards defective charge circuit on the battery..

I too was having problems with my battery dying very quickly, I mean within 3 hours. after reading a lot of threads and a little playing around, I found that my uptime and awake time were the same, which means my phone was never sleeping. this of course is going to KILL your battery. so I cycled my battery 3 or 4 times full charge to turn off, ran taskpanel, and started to watch what was going on. after setting up auto kill for a few apps, my phone now sleeps and my battery has lasted 15 hours uptime and 2 and a half hours awake time so far and I have about 35 percent left. it is possible to get good life out of this battery. you just need to find what is preventing your phone from sleeping.

I think we should make a "Battery" subforum so we don't have to wade through 25 threads on the same topic...

but that's just my opinion

I agree, I think people like creating new ones so they can focus on their issue even though there are like 25 others with the same exact issue. Sometimes it is nice to be the center of attention :)

Normally I would say it wouldnt be a big deal but this forum is basically amlostall about people talking about battery issues and trying to find an upgraded battery so those topics are not very hard to find and no need to create new ones :)

Same here. I wonder if its a battery problem, phone hardware, or software bug. I'm wondering if I should do a swap today.

Hey guys,

I've got a replacement phone being delivered today. I received my first one last Thursday, and my battery was lasting only 5-6 hours with light usage. Obviously everyone's classification of "usage" is different, but I was hardly using the phone at all and it was dead by lunch time. I was not having a problem with the phone staying awake either. I found myself going through at least two full charges per day.

When I spoke with Verizon, they mentioned that it could be the phone hardware, the battery, the software i loaded on it, or a combination of the three. They agreed to send me a new one since I'm still within the 30 days. I'll try the new handset and let everyone know if I see a difference based upon my usage pattern.

P.s. I deleted skype mobile from my phone yesterday morning, and the battery lasted until midnight with 20% remaining. that's nearly 3x the battery life of the previous 5 days. Coincidence? I think not. maybe I don't need that new handset after all...

I think its a charging issue with the phone itself. NiteRiders post about charging it then pulling the charger cord and putting it right back on and it charges for another 20 mins three times. I tried it and mine charges about 15 to 20 mins more when I pull the charging cord then put it back on and I have two extra batteries that I got off ebay and they do the same thing!

I understand the battery life with not be perfect BUT the % should not frop to 98 as soon as I tke it off the charger and then to 93% after checking 1 webpage (androidforums.com) and then down to 90 after sending 2 text messages...
Pretty sure the phone is not completely charging the battery if it's turned on while charging. After you get the green light, turn off the phone, unplug then plug in again, and the light will turn amber. It'll take about 20 mins to get up to green again. You can do this several cycles (unplug, replug while off). After you turn this back on again, it will stay near 100% for much longer, instead of immediately dropping.

Is your TP2 battery LiPoly or LION? LiPoly has a much higher charge time for the last 10% of capacity.

You don't have to do the whole charge with the phone off. Just turn it off when it hits green and do the last 20-30 mins with it off.

Battery lasts longer than my enV Touch did. It'll also last longer than an iPod's would if you were constantly keeping the display on and doing stuff.

Just throwin' that out there.

I think that some stock batteries are defective, mine included. I iram getting too much of a performance gain with the 1500 mAh TP2 battery I bought. This morning I unplugged it and played with it for 5 minutes and it was still showing 100%. The stock battery would be down to 90% in the same scenario. It should not be so hard for people to believe that there may be a manufacturing issue at hand...

I agree 100%...I dont know why Its so hard for people to admit there may be a problem...I think for sure there's a problem!

There is a problem but i don't think everyone has it. Thats why they are frusterated with the people that have the issue taking over the forum and we get frustrated with them because they keep telling us there is no problem :) .. oh and becuase were jelous that theirs lasts more than 10 hours :)

It may also be to high of expectations for the handset. A handset such as this is highly complex has a a lot going on inside of it and has a 1 Gig processor in it. A 1 Gig processor uses a LOT of power, folks remember this is a phone not a laptop but basically its doing the same job on a very tiny battery.

A 1GHz processor onboard does not explain the battery drain from 100% to 93% shortly after removal from the charger. I think that the numbers are significant with many reports of the same exact behavior.

I don't expect it to last as long as my old Razr, but the very repeatable post charging battery drop is an indication of an issue, IMO.

And my vogue, omnia, imagio and droid were diffrent how? I think they were smart phones to.

My droid was OC'd to 900 and sometiimes to 1.1 and did not have the issue.

My expectations are not out of wack.

My battery is no better than the storm 2 was. Go buy extra chargers or larger batteries and problem is solved. This device works too good to complain about!

Could we possibly try and keep all the battery related posts to 1 or 2, maybe 3 threads? I think one for positive, one for negative, and one for tips would suffice. I have no problem merging everything together this way but I want to hear from everyone in the forum before I do it. If you like this idea maybe hit the thanks button or reply, if you hate it then just reply.

For Example My phone is going on 10 hours since a charge look at the photos below.

You are clearly not having hte same issue as some of us. I am jelous but it also keeps me optimistic that it is something that can be fixed.

How many e-mail accounts do you have setup?

Are you using facebook integration?

I am thinking it has something to do with e-mail setup because I wiped my phone and then setup my e-mail accoutns and didnt install any other apps and I still have the issue.
