[Battery] Complaints and Problems

Go to your Battery Info. What is the awake time and uptime?

Then go to Accounts & Sync.

What applications are there?

How often are they syncing?

What apps have you installed?

Something is definitely not right, assuming your battery has run through a few charge cycles already to break in.

Uptime 32:55, Awake time 8:12

Accts and Sync: Backup Asst, Facebook, Google, and Weather

Auto-sync is off. I turn it on a few times throughout the day to update my stuff.

I preordered the phone on the 19th and received it the 28th. It gets charged fully every night and then throughout the day. I pretty much stayed by a charger. I am on my motorcycle today and just tired of this battery issue cause I dont have a car charger now.

I just ordered the OEM TP2 battery. Hopefully that will work out better. There is definitly something wrong with this battery.

Edit: And I DON'T have live wallpapers enabled. I also use ATK throughout the day to kill tasks.

I think the percentages are of time useage and not battery usage. As in the phone was in standby for 21% of the time it's been awake and using the Android OS for 27% of the time the phone has been awake (off-charge).

The only way this is possible if is if the Android System is considered being used when the phone is sleeping (in standby). This is definitely a possibility, but my Standby is usually around 30% and there's no way my phone is only sleeping 30% of the time.

I got better battery life on my VX6900 which is a WinMo phone that I flashed to run Android

this is exactly my situation. i am sick of people saying "i have no problem: i talked for 2 hours today, sent 300 text, watched a 30 minute colbert report and i'm still at 65% when my unplugged my battery at 9am and it's 11pm now"

i send less than 10 texts a day, spend less than 30 minutes a day browsing, and spend less than 30 minutes a day talking. i might receive 5-10 emails a day, and maybe i respond to 1 or 2 of them. my battery is around 30-40% after being unplugged for 8 hours.

i am sick of being told, "you have a smart phone, your battery won't last." i'm barely using the thing. what would happen if i actually did use it? i received my phone a day early (4/28) and trust me, i have cycled through my battery - the first day, i had to charge it before noon (i received it around 9am)!

i've read through about half of the 10,000 battery threads and tried all their tricks - airplane mode, turning off always on (that actually did help, but i've decided not to cripple my phone), etc...no help.

Here's my take. After charging all night, with the INC on the uptime and awake time are the same, as if something is running yet it doesn't break it down in that kind of detail to tell me this. So, i turn the phone off and back on, and the awake time is now realistic. After 30 minutes....2 min awake, 30 min up time. This tells me I just killed something that was using battery but couldn't close. Might have something to do with the charging operation....not sure. But a quick fix for everyone is simply rebooting, granted you have all of the battery draining things disabled, like always on, continual update of apps, yada yada yada.

This is my thread. Can you please stop interjecting and can someone please give me some help.

mbarn: i'm not thread-jack. sorry if it sounded that way. i'm simply stating that i have the same exact issues as you (down to the same applications that i have syncing). i wish i had an answer for you, but i do not. and i do not want to create the 10,001st battery topic.

First I have to mention that I had issues with my incs battery as well...wish seem to be fixed now...I posted a link on one of my threads today...it could very well help you too if you read it...

ok mbarn....I am no expert with batteries or the Android....and I can see you are frustrated...now to the numbers you have posted....

so you say that you had your phone on from 8am until noon which is 4 hrs...and you have only about 20% (2 bars left), right?

BUT you have 32hrs of uptime???or are you talking about 32 min?
cuz if it's 32 hrs that means your phone went 32hrs without plugging it in...if it is 32 min....then you can't put this number in your post since it doesn't help when you are talking about the 4 hrs that your phone lost so much battery juice...
I do not mean to confuse you but if I were you, then I would start to look at the up and awake times every now and then right after I unplug it, after I used apps...etc. delete some turn them off etc....

go to my thread that I posted earlier and read the entire thread I linked to...it's not that long but it explains alot....good luck;)

Menu->Settings->Mobile NetworkS->Enable Always on mobile (uncheck)

Before, i would get at best 12 hours, and ~ 8 hours usually (which works for me) but w/ this off i'm currently at 11 hrs with 54% remaining. This has been posted all over the forum. Basically, this affects push mail/google voice sms when the screen is off. you're not crippling your phone by doing this, and it sounds like most of the emails you get are not important.

Here is the whole point of the REAL issue... (yes there really is an issue)

THE FACT THAT THERE ARE A BAZILLION THREADS TO BEGIN WITH THAT CONCERN POOR BATTERY LIFE (AND RADIO SIGNAL) IS PROOF ENOUGH OF THE PROBLEM!

Yes there are some good tips/methods on how to make things better and they should be attempted/explored... but that does not make the simple fact that battery life on this (otherwise awesome) phone is terrible at best and quite possibly defective in some cases.

FYI uptime is since it was last powered OFF, NOT since it was last plugged in.

wow ppl are becoming so rude in here.....:(
I guess I got confused....cuz when I unplug my phone my uptime starts.....I am sorry....besides...I do not power my phone off...no reason too....so that's why I wrote what I did...because my uptime starts when I unplug...
He didn't say when his started so there no way to know by the numbers he gave:(
Again, no reason to respond like that...I am just trying to help since no one else seems to be interested in the OP stats....
or at least no answers....

Both are LiPo, Both are Lithium Ion based....

LiPo vs traditional is purely a construction issue. You cannot make batteries this thin using traditional methods. So both are Lipo's...

The only other thin LION design is Prizm construction, but I think it has been abandoned for cost concerns.

You can apply LION to all lithium based batteries.

They are more or less the same thing.

My battery lasts a good long time longer than my Storm2 or IPhone 3GS. Maybe these people just have defective phones?? Maybe just expecting to much? I have no issues with the battery life at all.

I could go two business days with my storm. By the end of 1 business day with DI, I have to recharge. It's the same amount of use. Anyway, I've just accepted that it's subpar from what I'm used to

Seattle, get back to my last post and help me. I want to throw this phone into a brick wall.

Settings --> Applications --> Running Services

What do you have running?

And what apps have you installed? Any that might be running more than they should be?

So check this. I take my phone off of the charger at 8am and my phone is at 2 bars by noon. My battery is screwed. Anyways none of the local verizon stores have any batteries nor are there any in the warehouses. They tell me to call HTC and they will replace my battery. I call HTC and they transfer me to TCB(sp?) (their warranty and repair) company. They actually have the nerve to tell me to send them my battery first and go without my phone until they receive my battery and they can send me a new one. I am astonished at their customer service and extremely disappointed. I am furious to say the least.

Just get advanced task killer, all apps you open will always run in the background and this app will end task.

I don't understand for the life of me while people feel they have to stay connected 24/7! I mean fine push email all the time OK cool.....keep 3G on and auto sync....but BT, GPS, twitter and FB, and social sites on all the time! It's a phone for pete sake...wth has tech done to some of us go get out and go hiking get some exercise go have fun with your family or your better half. What did everyone do 10 years ago? things still worked out...Then again I'm an old fart so what do I know :p.....seriously!

Haha.. Phones do not cost $199... They will give you a phone for getting cell service for free. I have not owned a phone in years..:D

I agree. Most of the time, I have WiFi and 3G off (I check email once or twice a day); I'll use the GPS when I need it; I've never gotten into "social networking; I only use the camera to download widget/app "barcodes"...

(I showed the phone camera to my full-frame Nikon D-SLR, and the Nikon just giggled)

The main reason I bought this phone is to let me leave my laptop at home when I go on a trip. I'd love to find a small, foldable external keyboard that works, and I'm also in the market for a wired earplug/microphone combo, if anyone has any suggestions... :D

My battery has sucked since I got the phone, but I've been pounding it with games and all sorts of other stuff, trying to kill it. Wearing stuff in is the best part, right?

For the last 48 hours I've let it go, kinda. I'll plug it up here or there, but I wanted to monitor it a little better, instead of draining it every few hours and then charging it while off.

48 and 46%, respectively, Standby and Idle. Uptime of 48 hours, Awake time of 37. Screen and Android System utilized the rest, at least that is what it told me. I've tried Airplane mode and everything else, but I haven't actually had the phone on this long so far. I have been running a Task Killer, just to monitor most of the time. I normally only kill something if it seems like something is amiss. Something is obviously a miss and I've basically had Clock and Weather running, and that's it. I played some games and texted, checked FaceBook, browsed, but I just didn't let it die completely this time. I tried to keep a charge on it. Now... I'm a bit worried by what I see. =(

I plan to get the Verizon 2150 battery, I'm sure it'll lengthen battery life, but it seems like something else is going on.

No Calendar horror stories, but something seems up.
