Battery/Device heat-up

I have noticed that the device will heat up when charging and tasking to the point of 108 degrees or so. What do you all think could be causing this? I am the only one with this issue? It sucks to not be able to charge and listen to music or view a video/movie or download while charging. Keep in mind I am only doing 1 of those things at a time. I could imagine trying it all at once= complete meltdown probably. I also have the Otterbox defender series case for it. Hopefully it is not suffocating it. Although I've had this issue before the case even came out. Help me out Thunderbolt fam.........

I am hoping that number is in degrees F, not degrees C. If it is in Celsius, then you have a serious problem. Both batteries i have say they should operate under 60 degrees C, which is 140 degrees F. Even so the battery should not be getting that hot. Highest mine has been when i think its real hot is like 26 degrees C. Is it an aftermarket battery, or a different charger than the one that came with the phone?

any phone you charge will get hot. WHen I am at work I charge my phone while playing xiialive and the battery temp will be 114 F. plus in my work area its 95F. I have heard theres a failsafe in the phone that if the temp gets over a certain temp it will stop charging. I seen this happen with my original droid phone.

Yes it is 108 degrees F. All original out of box materials. It appears to be the same charger for the incredible.

I have noticed those temps as well as far as 118 degrees F. Sometimes the device starts flashing ambient and red in and out or maybe green and red. I'm not sure if it is the reboot issues that has been going on or not, but my device will also shut completely down without restarting automatically. I only notice it shut itself down when I go back to use it. Then I have to power it back on. Not sure if it got too hot or not or what could have caused it to do so. I must admit since the update my battery is virtuously un killable, however when it shuts itself down like that I l can go from 50-37% just like that. Thank you all for responding, anymore feedback will be graciously appreciated.

I have had the same issue with the device heating up but its not just when its charging its when I am using some applications and that was when I did not have a case on it.

It might be due to your case, I use the kickstand and have the phone stand up when I charge mine. My phone only gets hot when I'm using 4g and surfing the web when I'm outside with temps in the 70-80 range

Just charging with the AC charger shouldnt get it that hot. If its charging while actively running an app in the foreground its normal and perfectly fine. 108 isnt that hot..

Think of how hot a laptop battery gets. Same lithium ion battery.

Charging via USB will get it hotter while charging, but still safe. Unless you're getting to 120 i wouldn't worry about it. Its normal.
