Me again. Ironass, I've had that bogus settings program wifi readout since first Lollipop upgrade. (Verizon, just got the C4 upgrade G900VVRU1BOC4 an hour ago. Still gets the wifi wrong...) I also suspect that it messes with my system upgrades, since the last couple of Pushes have gone thru the phone data radio, instead of the wifi, chewing up my data usage big-time. Last time Verizon claimed my wifi must have been down, even after I explained that my picocell site is connected to the same device. No wi-fi, no cell. Too stupid to understand, I guess. This time, I'll get them to credit me that usage, since Lollipop seems to use much more data radio than Kitkat did, even with most everything turned off, and even when it's near wi-fi almost constantly. Likely background traffic, as Macrodroid shuts down wifi when screen off. And data radio, supposedly.
Gsam, BTW, gets it right on the wifi. Macrodroid turns it off when screen off, Gsam (and battery usage!) reflect that accurately. Stock settings app is still confused about it, and my internal storage. (Accding to it, my 16G flash has 12.01G apps, 1.14G cached data (Time to flush!), 5.75G misc, and 4.44G free. I may not be Einstein, but that math don't hunt! Again, that's been screwy since the last 4.4 update.
Just odd bits from this phone. (.35GB on that C4 update, BTW.) Quick impressions. Faster operation, opens apps and task window faster. Ran hot as blazes during the upgrade/app updates. Cooled off rapidly, and looking at Gsam's hour or so of data, the battery usage has dropped quite a bit from first 5 version, even after tweaking and so on.
I've used quite a bit of screen time, checking things out, even that runs less. Gsam's running current drain was pretty much at 600ma when looking at it on first version, now is saying 450ma. Don't know how accurate that calc is, but looking at the slope on the batt usage, it's a lot closer to 'flatline' when the screen's off than it used to be, so I think it's likely to be significantly improved. Will watch like a hawk, next few days.
Too soon to say it's all good, but seems better at first glance. As I'm in a poor/none signal area, when I leave home, and it loses the picocell, you can see more power used as it 'hunts' for signal 'til I get closer to town. So i'll keep watching, and see how it goes.
Take care, stay android! (Tho these $20 windows 8 nokia 521 phone Target was selling ain't bad. Using one without sim card as a wifi music box/media phone. 64G sd card means you don't need much outside data...)
yours, Stu
