Help Battery draining very quickly

Hiker083

I just installed GB on my husbands phone last night, after installing it on mine earlier in the day with no issues. We both have Droid X. I installed it on his and it completely crashed it. I ended up having to reboot the phone, which seemed to fix the issue, but now, the battery drains in like 3 hours, from 100% to completely dead without being used. When checking the battery for usage, the main thing is called com.motorola.service.main and it says it is using 50% of the battery. There is a button to force stop it but that is disabled. My husband is NOT tech savvy so he doesn't download a bunch of apps and mainly just uses the phone to talk on and check his work e-mail.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what I can do to stop the fast battery drain, I would appreciate it. I too am not a tech wiz either so if your suggestions could be written in as simple terms as possible please......
Thank you!

My husband's phone is having the exact same problem, but the app using 58% of the battery is com.motorola.contacts

It is also getting very hot when charging.

My Droid X has the same problem. The app draining 28% of battery life after 5 hours is "com.android.contacts." Is this app necessary if my contacts are on my work's Outlook server?

That sounds like something I would definitely not delete.

Anyone found a way to fix this problem without doing a factory reset?

I am too experiencing com.motorola.service.main keeping my phone from sleeping after the August Gingerbread update.

Unfortunately there are no solutions that were posted in this old thread. Is there a known fix that worked for anyone?

Help! My Motoroloa Droid X2 phone is a new replacement for the Droid X I traded in because for some unkown reason it would go from full charge to die in less than 2 hours just on stand by. We tried multiple new batteries and it didn't fix the problem. Because I have insurance, they just gave me another phone. That phone was great for about a month but now has begun doing the exact same thing. I've been to the Verizon store twice not to try to get it fixed, but they just keep giving me new batteries. I use my phone for work, so it's driving me crazy that I have to carry around a charge cord so I can charge during every meeting. Anybody know the answer?
