Help Battery exclamation point icon?

Moved to HTC EVO 3D Section. :)
Yes this can be caused by a faulty battery. You can also try doing a factory reset to clear out the system to see if that helps.

My htc evo 3d got the black screen of death.. The battery has been acting up and was getting a weird blank battery with a "!" inside of it.. then the next day I unplugged it and nothing the screen stayed black but the bottom buttons are working and light up. So i went ahead and just replaced the LCD and Digitizer and still the same problem. I dont know if a bad batter can cause this but its my last guess really. If anyone could give me a yes or no thank you

Are you a root user? I've never experienced this until I flashed a sense 4 rom.

If your not a root user, it might be worth having it looked at by sprint techies

Ok I got the new battery and its still not working and no I did not root the phone. Also sprint is trying to tell me it was water damaged which I no it wasn't. Im really at a lose her and dont know what to do

-Edit-

Ok I finally figured it out it was the backlight for the screen problem is it still wont light up if i have a lamp on it i can see it. Problem is I already replaced the LCD and digitizer.. so what else can cause a backlight failure

Just today I bought an HTC Amaze's Battery for my HTC EVO 3D. The shopkeeper told me that both phones use the same battery.

Ever since Ive put in that Brand New Original Htc 1730 mAh battery into my Evo 3d, the battery display on the top left has gone grey with an exclamation point on top of it.

The battery isnt lose. It fits perfectly and as already mentioned, is brand new. Ive done a factory reset to no avail.

The phone doesn't even charge up now. The small light on the top left of the phone go red and green while plugged in.

I tried charging the phone while its off. But the "being charged" red led doesn't light up

P.S: For a small duration of say 3-4 minutes, the battery sign did go normal. But then went back to being grey again.

Please help :(

why didn't you purchase the correct batter for the evo 3d?

the icon means there is no communication with the battery and charging circuit. the phone may see if it can charge the battery but after some time it will cancel, as you have seen.

the battery does not seem to be fully compatible and you should return it before you cause any issues with your phone.

Hello Everyone:
I just did an SD card removal and did a power down after the system indicated it was safe to remove the card. I then, after that power down, I powered up with the SD card out of the system. Then, I plugged in the charger for the phone and it appears to be charging normally. When I get to 100%, I'll insert the SD card to see if the anomaly happens again, where the exclamation point returns. I'll report back in, in a couple of days to give results. This fix was on the sprint help page. Good luck and I hope this helps. Later

Hello all:
As promised, I returned to give you an update to reveal if the fix had some legs. Well....it turned out the fix failed. I did take the advice of a fellow poster on this site to get a decent and inexpensive toolset for my toolbox. The program was on Google Play and it is called Elixir. This is a Pretty decent tool for the cost and everytime the exclaimationI point appears, I just go into the Info tab for the battery and it shows the correct battery level and temp plus a couple other nice to know nuggets. The icon clears up after viewing the status. If it doesn't do it right away, just be patient and it will correct itself after a check of the battery once or twice. My suspicious mind wonders if this bug is a money making scheme where people just go out and buy a new battery. Thoughts?
Good night all.
V/r,
Will
