[Battery] Fixes and Tips

to help my battery life in the future what should i do when i get the phone. how do i condition the battery correctly?

thats a tricky questions, there are many different opinions to that. i would be sure to fully charge it first then just have fun, charge it fully, repeat. on days that you have to go to work and it has to last a full day just be more conservative with your browsing, videos, etc. once it is broken in so to speak you shouldn't have any problems with it lasting a day, i don't. but you do need to keep an eye on it.

I charged mine fully when I first received the phone. I spent the first 2-3 cycles completely discharging the battery before re-charging. Thereafter, I charged as needed. After about one week (10-15 cycles), my battery life began improving. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.

I purchased the 1750 slim battery as my primary battery in the phone. The 1300 OEM battery will be my swap when I'm in a crunch. Actually after a few charges the OEM battery was doing really well. I figured if it's only $50 and it doesn't require replacing the battery door then why not if it has 450 more Li-Ion storage...I'm charging it now...I bought it from mobilecityonline.com and it shipped out the next day.

Ok, so like many of you I have tried this. I charged my phone to 100% while it was turned on. I unplugged it, turned the phone off and plugged it in again. It started charging and after 15 minutes it turned green again (phone is still off). So I unplugged it and waited 5 sec and plugged it in again and guess what? Yeah, it charged again for 10 min or so. I have repeated this 4 times with the same result. Finally, after the 4th time the light turned green within 30 seconds. I've turned the phone back on thinking it is now fully charged. After 26 texts, 3 calls, checking 2 email accounts and 1 hour awake time...I am at 76%. In other words...I don't believe it made any difference.

Turn off phone. Plug into charger and charge until full. Use until your battery runs out. Turn off and plug back into charger and charge until full. Repeat 2-3 times to get your battery indicator accurate. After that, you should be good to go.

Just got my Seido 1750 two days ago. Currently on second full charge: 20:13 uptime, 3:50 awake time. Down to 5%....

Although my first charge was only to top it off after receiving it.

Buy a bigger one is the only advice I can offer. For me, the battery is intollerable. For example, the other day I had to drive from Cleveland to Akron to drop my wife off at the airport - about 50 miles/1 hour drive. I used nav with a full battery to get there and it died on the way back - no stops, no calls, no radio, nothing - nav killed the battery from fresh charge within 1.5 hours.

Then it's definitely time to report the problem and demand resolution.

I just did the test as well. Charged till green, unplugged and powered off, plugged back in, now it's red and charging some more. Whatever this issue is, it's real.

Update: It charged for 14 minutes, I then unplugged and plugged it back in and it charged for another 10.

Update#2: 2 hours later still at 100% and have been using moderately. Actually posting this from the DI.

Yeah I just tried this with my Nexus and the same thing is happening.

Nexus said it was charged so I turned it off while still plugged in and the light went red and stayed that way for an hour! Then it turned green, I turned it back on, and now I'm getting better battery life. been off charge for thirty minutes and I'm still at 100%!! That never happens... normally even if I don't use it, it drops power!

I'm gonna bet HTC did this on purpose because the last 10% takes much longer to charge and they didn't want to give the impression that their phone takes way longer to fully charge than someone else not using LiPoly technology.

I think that makes sense.

Best way to extend battery life (cited elsewhere here in forum):

Menu > Wireless & Network > Mobile Networkds (2nd one down) > UNCHECK 'Enable always-on mobile data'

This can cause problems with a couple of apps (Google Talk?) but for most people, they still get all the push stuff & everything works perfectly. I have no problems. And it at least doubles your battery life.

Normally I stick in a freshly charged battery (from a standalone charger) around 7-9am, and I am at 50-75% battery life left at 10pm.

This makes the phone work for me. You can search the forums for more on this.

Same results here.

If I charge the phone when it is on and start using once the LED is green then I have horrible battery life.

If I turn the phone OFF and charge at least 2 hours AFTER the LED turns green my battery seems to work like I would have expected when I bought the phone.

I just charge overnight with the phone off now and let it get extra hours of charge. I think the HTC battery meter is definitely giving a false reading.

THE EXPERIMENT: I plugged in my phone last night and woke up this morning to a green LED. I turned my phone completely off and plugged it again. Alas, a red LED which did not turn green for another 20 mins. I then unplugged my phone and plugged it back in again; RED LED for another 20 mins! I did the same thing over, in total of 3 times.
So you did all three steps , three times over?

Im in the process of doing what you did , just want to know if i have to do the 3 stage process , 3 times... lol...

If that makes any sense

BTW, I changed two things in my routine.

1)I charged the phone while it was off
and

2)when I first turned on the phone I force closed the calendar app and I went into airplane mode and then off airplane mode.

My batter went from 6 hours from 100 to 10 pct to 5 hours and I'm still around 80 pct.

This phone's battery life is DEFINITELY a software problem

Yup, that's what I'm saying.

Same for me as well. Until we see if there's a fix, I'm just going to keep charging one or the other battery in the external Seidio charger and then plug that battery in in the morning. The external charger is charging the battery fully - which tells me it is something with the phone's relationship to the battery. I see a 25% difference in performance from the battery when it's charged in the external charger. This applies to both the Seidio 1750 and the HTC 1300 that came with the Inc. I'm actually the one who identified the charging issue in the previously mentioned thread....
