Help Battery Indicator stuck on screen

Well-Known Member
Hi.

My nexus had a green battery emblem stuck on screen like the charging indicator that appears when the phone is switched of and charing and without the bolt. So I sent my phone back to be repaired and I have just received it back and the green battery emblem is still on screen and of has got me thinking, should this battery emblem be on my screen?

Some Pics from my camera and a Youtube vid:

Going to upload some photos soon when I get my camera.

very weird. do you see it while the phone is on? or only when it is off or what?
you can take a screen capture of it by hitting volume down and power...but that will only work when the phone is on.

I'll come back to this...because it has me intrigued. :)

When the phone is on. Did a few screenshot's and couldn't see it.

Vid and pics above.

looks like screen burn in. was probably left overnight turned off, while charging.

that is probably never going to go away either. it happens with AMOLED screens. just one of the cons of the technology. try not to leave the screen on for a long time without having SOMETHING change on the screen. same concept as plasma screens.

see if you can get a replacement under warranty...new phone entirely.

Agreed...

Is it even possible to have burn-in on an LCD screen?

Interesting thread here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-moment/20454-screen-burn.html

no...but in this situation, where he is using a galaxy nexus which uses AMOLED technology, it is completely possible and Definitely what happened.

In your opinion, what are the differences between burn-in, degradation, and ghosting?

Burn in: exactly what you see in the first post....long exposure to a stationary object on the screen will typically "burn" the image into the screen forever. same thing happens with Plasma TV's.

Degredation: not really sure but i would assume this has to do with the "brilliance" of a screen. especially on AMOLED screens, some pixels may actually "burn out" thus degrading the color production in certain locations...this SHOULD take a VERY long time...but unfortunately, it happens right out of the box in some cases.

Ghosting: i believe this is refering to fast moving objects on the screen and the "trail" they leave. it isn't very noticable on the nexus, however if you look at the older pentile LCD screens (like the Droid 2/3 and the Droid x2) you can definitely see it in the app drawer. however i think it is more software related then hardware since the nexus has a PENTILE screen and i cannot see it on that.
