Help Battery issue

Yeah it isnt a battery drain problem. Whats happening isnt normal. Its probably imposible for a battery to lose charge like that so it must be about how the phone is detecting voltage

Beyond frustrating. And flat putrid. But what can I do?

I had the same problem this summer. Turned out it was a caused by deferring the OS update - my phone wouldn't go to sleep. I went ahead and accepted the update and it's back to normal. The update works fine too, no problems there.

I've never seen mobile network signal showns as black. Are you going into airplane mode or something?

No I used airplane mode once though. but it wasn't for long... No clue why its black.

I don't have an update available to me I just checked.

Mine shows black when I'm at work for some reason. I'm across the street from a Sprint tower and have 6 bars always. It's really weird because it only happens there.

I'm no expert but it looks as if your phone is reading your battery percentage wrong then gets it right hence the huge drop. I don't even know if that's possible, just throwing ideas into the mix but I wouldn't have thought an app could drain it that much that quickly!?

I've been having battery drain issues for the past couple of weeks and I'm convinced it's the August 13th update of Google Play Services. I froze the apk with Titanium which had a couple of bad effects on apps (Can't sign into YouTube, radar didn't work in WeatherBug Elite, warning msg every time I opened Google Maps, etc.) But my battery drain went from an appalling 6% to 9% per hour back up to <2% per hour in sleep mode. Look at the reviews in the Play store. Many people are complaining about storage space, but a few like myself are taking about battery drain.

In the Play store description it says it's for Play store updates. But even when I had it frozen I was getting automatic updates and notifications from the Play store. When you look at in in running services it says 'Google analytic service' which I believe would be an ad service.

I did notice this thread was started before the August 13th update, but this Google app is still a battery hog.

Your drop is coming when the screen is on. Or are you referring to the drop there at the end?

Those drops there are were the phone has rebooted. I've had that happen to me were it's rebooted and lost 5-10 percent
I have to restart when it does that. Hence those. But the line at the end is not a restart its the battery dropping instantly. Did a factory reset so well see how it goes.

I didn't see anywhere in this thread. If you mentiond if you have replaced the battery or not. Also, how old is the battery?

Last night my phone also dropped the best part of 30% in the 7 hours overnight when usually I would expect about 5%. Although both phones were purchased at the same time in January we have very different usage patterns so I doubt if it's a mechanical issue. My suspicion would therefore be an update to a pre installed app or similar.

O2 in the UK

How many apps do you have installed? I'm impressed you usually only lose 5% battery life over night (7 hours)...

Well there was no fix. Used my insurance and was sent a brand new S4, I'll miss you S3 guys. And I'll miss the phone. I loved it very much :)

FWIW, my wife's S2 had the same issue. I left it drain completely down, then charged it completely up (shut off), and it was fine after that.

I have heard you may have to completely drain/recharge twice, but hers worked after one time, and it's fine now.

Has something to do with a battery recalibration.

I have the same problem, only my phone is brand new, I got it yesterday. Running 4.1.2, my battery life isn't haywire, it just drains very quickly even in standby, I lose about 10% per half hour in standby. I know that that is not normal!
