Battery issues my @ss!

Im at about 21 hours with 50% charge. Im on 3g and wifi when at home. I turned off GPS, have gmail push, friends updates, live wallpaper, used the FM radio for about an hour and watched a few youtube videos along with normal internet surfing.

Lie much?

I've gone through 3-4 charges in less than 24 hours.

I'm at 29 percent. 3 hrs 45 mins up time, 2 hrs 13 mins awake time. Heavy browsing with dolphin, rss reading with newsrob, about 70 installs and a one minute 720p video. Phone is running so hard the kickstand is almost hot to touch.

Im doing my first test today for battery life. I must have run down the battery 4 times yesterday but I was playing with it literally all day at work. This morning I woke up at exactly 9:30am and unplugged the EVO from the charger. Have sent/received a few texts, messed around in the Market a little bit, browsed the net for about 5 minutes so far and I'm at about 80% (how do you see the actual %age?)

IMO if people are getting poor battery life, and they are being conscious of turning off unused radios then the phone is probably in a poor coverage area, and has to keep searching for service... that can destroy a battery in no time...

I hope you realize you are NOT supposed to fully drain a Li ION battery. This can actually damage it.

Li-Ion and Li-Po batteries have over/under voltage and over current built into them or the phone has the battery monitoring circuit. There is no need to worry about over charging or over draining your cell phone battery.

If there was no protection circuit, how would the phone know when the battery is low or finished charging?

Your above statement is technically correct, but is only a concern when you are dealing with unprotected batteries.

People also need to take into account, our batteries won't reach their full potential until a few full charge/discharge cycles.

Battery life for me has been great so far considering the size of the screen. Connectivity toggles are your friend. Not using bluetooth or wifi, turn them off. etc.

GREAT battery life so far. Weather updates qhour, News updates qhour, push GMail, screen brightness 50% with auto brightness off, using the phone and web surfing as per usual. So far, the battery life APPEARS to be better than my former iPhone 3GS, and is DEFINITELY better than my former HTC (not so) Incredible. So far so good!

lol? not so Incredible? lmao

I was shocked when HTC put 1300 into Incredible.

I use a free app from the market named battery indicator

Well I don't know about the battery myself it drops 10% percent just looking at the home screen without a live wallpaper. How do I get push gmail and weather every hour and turn off background data? Sorry I am an android newbie but im sill loving this phone!

I recommend you use battery widget. accurate and when you tap the widget it gives shortcuts to wifi, bluetooth, gps and display.

IMO, modern technology Lithium batteries do not have any memory effect or need to be deep cycled to acheive maximum performace. Lithium batteries are way different than the old school recharables. DYODD.

Battery life of this phone is amazing, took me around 10 hours yesterday with pretty heavy use to kill it. Put in my second battery and messed around with it for like another hour in bed then woke up this morning with the LED flashing because of messages and emails and had only lost 1 bubble (90%) right now (Noon) it's at 80%. Thats with all the stock widgest running too only thing I disabled was Calendar updating because I heard there was a bug with it keeping the phone awake but I haven't actually checked it. Will turn it on in awhile and see if it makes the battery life take a dive.

Well guys since you all are having such good luck with the battery, tell me what I should do? I just turned off gps, and friend steam........ anythin else I should do?

Weather updates qhour, News updates qhour

I chuckled when I saw this. You must work in the medical/health field. I find myself writing in sig code out of habit too.

You should do some research before you post.

How to prolong lithium-based batteries

"Here is the reason: Short discharges with subsequent recharges do not provide the periodic calibration needed to synchronize the fuel gauge with the battery's state-of-charge. A deliberate full discharge and recharge every 30 charges corrects this problem."

My battery life has been surprisingly good for everything I've been doing and running. It's significantly better than my iPhone 3G and Moment.

Play nice or go find another sandbox... Calling someone a liar is only inflammatory...did you consider that your usage patterns and experience may vary from his? Now, battery is at 6%. 4 hours 55 minutes up time, 3 hours 2 minutes awake time. So basically 5 hours of power use on OEM battery. Hard to complain about that.

BTW was a consensus ever reached on whether the Hero would work on EVO? There was a lot of back and forth about whether it would or wouldn't and I wasn't able to see what the true story was.

okay i threw caution to the wind and tried it. its working.

I was hoping it would work like my old Treo would, and when you have it plugged into a charger and take out the battery it would stay on. When I had EVO plugged in and took the battery out, it turned off anyway. Small inconvenience but life goes on.

Yeah, this battery life is way better than the Moment's. So far so good.

I am very happy that I bit the bullet and upgraded to the Evo. There were so many days that I wanted to throw my Moment against the wall, lol.

Who else is coming from a Palm Pre?
I want to know how battery performance compares between Evo & Pre?

FYI, my Pre sucks batteries dry in no time!! lol

I also had Pre before I got the Moment and the Evo definitely has better battery life than the Pre. My husband swapped his Pre for the Evo and he loves it. We both agree that Android is light years ahead of WebOS.

Just turn off Background data and you'll never have an issue with the battery. I'm not a Facebook junkie so I don't care about constantly being kept up to date with what every one is up to.

How do you turn off background data? My battery is terrible! Unplugged it at 8am. Made 3 shoot calls. 4G turned off. No wifi. My battery is at 48% at 1400. This is worse than my jailbreaked iPhone and MyWi. Do I have a bad battery?
