Ya'll's battery life worse after the recent update?

I used to be ~ 35-40% after a day's use. now many times I am below 20%. Battery usage says mostly from my display, but my display settings have not changed.

i am noticing worse battery life too. this morning as an example- unplugged at 7:30, 10 minutes talk time, wifi and gps off, not looked at it much at all, realy, screen off, and I am at 55% already. before, doing the same or more, I would be at least up at 70-80% still... if not better... not liking this update much. on positive side, I got to try the gps post-update yesterday, and it did lock on faster--- took about a minute.

i had really bad battery life the first day after i updated. i looked at my screens and figured it was the updated youtube widget. the original one was just a link but the new is an active widget that changes the preview icon for the most popular video. that would mean that its pulling data and i bet that is causing poorer battery life for a lot of people out there.

I have noticed a definitive drop in battery life since the update. I can't quantify it but it is a definite, noticeable drop in battery life.

fwiw... my phone, albeit a replacement i got yesterday, is running much hotter.

Be sure you turn off application background data sync by going to menu, settings, accounts & sync and un checking
Background data sync.

Here's something interesting I just noticed. I've been checking my "usage" the last two days and I've been noticing that when you click the "Cell Standby" the phone tells you a % of how long the phones been on without a signal. When I checked yesterday and again this morning the phone states it's been without signal for 55-65% of the time.

I just rebooted the phone and watched the signal meter NEVER drop below a single bar, and refreshed the "usage" statistics several times. I've discovered that the phone registers a single bar as having "no signal", but having 2 more bars as having one. The % went down as soon as the phone has 2 bars, but as soon as it had 1 the % went back up.

I thought the DL09 update was supposed to fix the signal meter? (I saw some people actually mention it fixed the actually reception of the phone but I don't recall actually reading that in the update notes so I kind of assume they're mistaken.)

After doing *22899 my battery life improved dramatically. I am getting 2 days out of a single charge. I am doing mostly voice and texting along with Facebook and reading USA today.

found that the update is sucking battery power via my GPS. I used to leave my standalone GPS on all the time. Now I turn it off unless I am actively using it and my battery life is more appropriate. It is not a big thing b/c the lock on now is so fast for the GPS. I keep the Verizon and Google location on as well for those aps that need a general whereabouts to work (weather, gas buddy, etc)

I think I'm getting worse battery life...tough to tell. Could it be the E911? Although I assume E911 is always on but now there is just an icon visible.

Leaving the standalone GPS on all day has a minimal impact on my battery life, and it definitely helps the lock times when I need to use nav. Keeps it "awake" I guess. I still get a full day out of my Fascinate battery with GPS, bluetooth, and WiFi all enabled, all day long. This of course is pre-update. I think I'm going to give this update a try, though, and if it doesn't work well for me, after rooting and cleaning up a bit, of course, I'll just go back to a clean ROM or stupidfast kernel or something like that. Might even go back to one of dirrk's voodoo kernels.

dirks old voodoo? with how iffy voodoo4 was (relative to voodoo5 which is light years ahead of it and doesnt slow down after a day or two) and how old the code is, as well as it being for dio1, thats not a statement id think anyone would be making

My Battery life is terrible after the update. And my GPS is not working at all? Thanks Samsung and vzw....big thumbs up!
