battery life after switching kernels - sgII, ICS

miquele

Lurker
hi,
my phone just used 35% of its battery with one reset - it got stuck and I had to take out the battery to reboot.
this kind of stuff started to happen, after I swapped the ICS stock kernel with one to get root access. Now I'm not sure if its related to this or due to the apps I installed since.
Is there a way to somehow pinpoint the matter and thus, find a remedy?
Thanks for your help (not sure if that is the right forum).

Hello and welcome to Android Forums miquele! :)

This is usually nothing to worry about if you have flashed a ROM or rooted your phone. The SGSII will, over a few charge cycles, re-calibrate itself automatically. You can re-calibrate it yourself, using this method.

As you are rooted I've requested that this thread be moved to the, "All Things Root", section of the forum.

thanks for your response. I observed this and it seems, that the battery consumption is not linear, i.e. the % indicator is off. It looks like it takes ages for the first 60% to dry out, but after that the remaining 40% or so can go in a blink. That is somewhat irritating and I am wondering if someone can recommend an app which tracks battery levels (preferable with add. info like screen time) during the day.
That would be helpful!
Thanks!
