battery life... again (sorry!)

Hi everybody

I know there is alreay alot said about the battery. But I'm new to smartphones, looking for a new one and I almost bought the desire today. I've read alot about it lately and I'm a fan!
But, off coarse the battery makes it difficult for me to decide. So what I want to ask to the desire owers, and only those who have the phone for a few weeks and not fresh out of the box:

1) Could it be possible to post your battery life and the usage (wifi/gps/3g of-off & how long on etc..) in that period please?? So i can have a good idea about that before I buy?

2) If you fully charge your battery and you go on the web with wifi (everything else disabled), how long does the battery last, average ?

Thanks in advance!
I know some of u probably posted the life of their battery.
But I couldn't find a topic with only posts of battery lifes

Thanks!!
and happy new year all!!!

With the stock HTC ROM I used to:

- Sync FB/Twitter/Weather every hour
- Have 2 Gmail accounts on push notifications
- 30 mins Wi-Fi
- 15 mins calls
- 20 SMSs

I'd take it off charge @ 7am and by 11pm I'd have about 40% left

Using eMIUI (a custom ROM), with the same usage, I end the day on 50-ish%. This is because it lowers the power when the screen is off

This has been hashed lots of times, so I'll keep it simple. I had an iPhone 3G and my Desire battery life is about the same. I have no complaints about the battery or phone performance.

Having said that, the screen is the biggest drain on battery, and with constant usage you can expect 4-5 hours with the screen on (playing games, videos, whatever). I can get 2 days out of a charge with several phone calls, texts, Maps usage, browsing the web for 15mins, etc, my typical usage. But with heavy screen usage like videos, I get about a day.

* This is my own use, not what I've read for others *

With every extra smartphone feature turned off I get 2-3 days with minimal use.
With everything on but with minimal use 1-2 days.
With general use around 1.5 days
With heavy use 0.5-1 day at the most.

A huge factor (that many people forget) is your signal. If you're constantly on the move/ in a weak signal area my battery will croak relatively quickly (less than a day with medium use).

This is why different users have very different battery life results.

Completely

Also itsworth noting that 3g data connections zap power too. Even with an amazing signal, 3g will use more power than WiFi

I bought it last week
I have no 3G yet, here is my usage
1-2 hrs WIFI and browsing
1 hr GPS
backgound data almost alway off.
minimal phone usage.
though utilizing Taskiller still disappointed with battery life
have to re-charge every night.

remove the taskiller please, its a battery sap (phone never fully sleeps and is monitoring tasks.
also with you killing tasks it uses more battery to re-launch them.
1 hr of browsing will use a bit of battery just cos the screen is in use and thumb movements are being calculated using more cpu.

obviously you want to use your phone, im saying any smartphone will behave like that with a screen this big.

please remove the task killer and ignore the fact there are running tasks (they are idle and being correctly managed by android which is far more intelligent than manual/automated 3rd party task management)

GPS is a bigger battery Killer than the colour screen!

Thanx about the info on Task Killer, it's been bugging me having to 'kill' apps the whole time.

Today was only my 1st full day with my new Desire... what an amazing phone!
