Help Battery life and battery management

I just got the 4000 mah seidio battery with the convert case and I have to say so far I'm not impressed. I had the same setup with my evo 4g and that was great. the 4000 mah battery seems to only have about one and a half times increase in battery life over stock. This is surprising since it is rated at almost two 1/2 time's the capacity of the stock evo 3d battery. My evo 4g would easily double the usage of the stock battery. The convert case is disappointing as well, compared to the 4g case it is flimsy and the plastic skeleton doesn't fit snug with the silicone like the 4g case did. Hopefully the battery life will improve with time although the 4g's 3500 was great out of the box. One positive note> its the only extended battery/rugged case combination out there right now. Rick

I had the seidio evo 4g combo too, and i loved it... i didn't go seidio this time...

that's too bad it's not that great this time...

When I first picked up my 3vo from the Sprint store about a month ago, the Sprint rep there told me that leaving my phone charging overnight was bad because it would cause overcharging which would end up decreasing battery life in the long run. My question is, is this a valid statement? Or is the Sprint rep full of crap? I'm mostly just wondering because I'd prefer to be able to leave it charging overnight, but if what he says is actually true then I'll just continue what I've been doing.

From my experience, I know more about every phone in the store than the actual reps do. That being said, I always charge my phone overnight if it's below 80%. If you download a battery monitoring app that shows a pretty accurate graph of your charge cycle (I use SystemPanel), you will see that once your battery reaches 100%, it begins to slowly discharge. Even while it's on the charger and the light is green, the battery is losing power. This continues until it reaches around 94% and then starts to charge again. Depending on your charge level when you first plugged in, and how you use your phone (whatever settings you leave on), this could happen two or three times during the night.

I've been doing this with my Hero and now my Evo 3D, no problems. I hope this helps.

4G, WiFi, and other drainers all turned off a couple of days ago (as far as I know)... Yet after 3 solid hours of Angry Bird, my stock battery power was in the low yellow.

I'm definitely ordering the Seidio 4000mah extended battery tonight, and see if it makes a difference in the longevity of my 3DVO. Especially now that I upgraded to the 32GB micro card about an hour ago.

Now that I've been running the Seidio 4000 for a few days the battery life has improved to about double the usage compared to the stock battery. One other thing I noticed is the Seidio battery runs at a slightly lower voltage than the stock battery when both are saying 100%. One thing is for sure you will get a full day out of this battery with moderate/heavy usage.

Well, I've officially ordered my extended battery and case, which should arrive within a week. So from what some of you 4000mah owners have claimed, I really hope it's worth it.

You went to the iphone 4 for battery? LOL. I don't think you can be helped. The iphone 4 has the worst battery life of any leading market phone. We have about 6 iphone 4's in the office and they are the first to start complaining about battery, usually less then 5 hours.

If I used an iphone the same way I use my htc evo, it lasts about 4 hours. The htc evo, with task killer, I can get about 14-20 hours.

The current android phones double the iphone 4 battery, easily. If you want to go back to android and still worried about battery, get a charger and extra battery. It cost about 50 bucks and will take care of your battery problems.

I hammer on my phone, hammer, and never get below a 14 hours of battery life. Some times, over the weekend, I can get about 30-48 hours of battery.

All you really need to do is use a task killer wisely or root your phone.

I love my phone now since I can really use it. The extended batts are really the advantage over the iphone..where you will be stuck. I love my 3500 mah 6.99 batt and new back. (epic 4G, extended)

Hi Frigz, how are u? Just sending you my experience as help. I turn my EVO off when I'm going to sleep (yr sleep no need for cell to be on) n let it charge overnight. When I wake up in the middle of the nite to pay my water bill (goin to the bathroom lol) and see the light is green I unplug it and my battery is fine. The rep shldv told you it's when leave the phone on and charge overnight that's what kills the battery faster cause it hasn't been turned off. Just my helpful 2cent,:o

We aren't currently working on any extended cases with kickstands but it hasn't been ruled out either. If something does come out, it wouldn't be for another month at least.

This is in high demand! Please make!!

It might charge slower because it's using some power to stay on, but I don't think the battery is dying faster because it wasn't turned off, other than the first few %, which weren't actually there to begin with.

Not to sound ungrateful, but shouldn't the lack of a kickstand on this overwhelmingly popular phone model prompted a strong consideration to include a kickstand for the case's design, considering it was announced months ago that the production version of the EVO 3D wouldn't be manufactured with one built in?

It would seem that a lot of case manufactures have forgotten that the kickstand is such in intergral and iconic feature on the EVO phone, seeing that this is basically a device to entertain it's user for hours on end. And seeing as Seidio is producing an extended battery for the EVO 3D for the sole purpose of keeping its user well powered for a multitude of tasks, it might seem only natural that a kickstand would be first priority for the extended battery case, if said user will be watching movies, or doing other things that would require him/her to prop up the phone for an extended period of time.

It's not that I'm angry, nor has it detered me from buying Seidio's extended battery or its matching case, but it just seems like common sense for Seidio to preimptively offer a case with a kickstand to house a bigger battery, since the sole purpose of the battery itself is intended for the phone to be used for a long period of time... Am I right?

I ordered the two pack batteries off of Ebay. They ship from China. How long does it normally take for them to get here? I live in North Carolina.

Why does my 3d led show charged, but the battery percent widget never reads more than 98%

as i typed this.. while charging the battery dropped to 97% wtf

edit:

Now 96% still plugged in

It's called a "float charge" and it is that way by design in order to protect the battery and improve it's lifetime.

The charge will intentionally slow down once it nears 100%, and then when it does, it will shut off charging until roughly 95% and then slowly trickle charge back up to 100%. It will keep doing this in a cycle. Maintaining the charge at 100% will reduce the lifetime of the battery.

I just bought 2 1930mah batteries and a wallcharger from Chichitec for $37. They shipped it fast, and free. Batteries seem to work great. Noticeably longer battery life than the stock batteries. I'm pretty happy with them.

My 4000mah battery and case are on it's way. I'm hoping I can figure out a way to incorporate a kickstand on it. Maybe disassemble my Body Glove case's kickstand, and somehow add it to the Seidio case.

I want to order those too! I got the cheap ebay ones and one is already splitting apart at the top and bottom. I heard Chichitec batteries were great and I then I heard another company makes one that is just as good for 10 bucks less and I forget the name starts with an A sorry it was on one of the forums I belong too. But I found a chichitec battery by itself somewhere when I googled it but it was like 19.99. I have 2 wall chargers from ebay so I really just need batteries no charger but I think I"ll try the chichitec ones since the few people on the fourms that do have then all say there great.

How long did it take for you to receive your batteries from Ebay?

Like I said, they work pretty great so far, and they were pretty cheap overall. They shipped fast, and are still offering free shipping. They also actually communicated with me, aside from the automated thing, to let me know when it had shipped out. You can also get 10% off by using coupon code OFF10 at checkout. You can buy them from Amazon, or go direct to chichitec.com (which redirects to htcexpress.com). I am very happy with them, and will keep them on my list if I need any other batteries in the future.

So the off10 coupon is for Amazon or chichitecs website? I want to try them.

Sorry. Don't think the code works for Amazon. not sure, I didn't try it. As far as I know, the code is just for their website.

Their shipping says 2 to 5 days, and I have placed two orders with them so far. Both of them arrived in my mailbox in 3 days from the day I ordered them. I'm in Kansas. just to give you an idea on how quickly they turn around the orders.

it usually takes 3-4 weeks if they send it regular shipping through hong kong post... if they go DHL... give me 3-4 business days...
