Battery life deteriorating

Greetings All, I am new here. I have a 17 month old Droid X. The battery life deteriorated dramatically recently. Without any useage and on night time setting it dies in 12 hours or less. I have tried turning off apps with advanced task killer. I went into manage apps and turned off several running apps. I even bought a new oem battery, which went dead in 11 hours. I am not eligible for an upgrade until August 28th. Any suggestions ?

Task killers don't help you, they hurt you. Eveen if you close apps, they'll re-launch and suck more power reloading.

What widgets do you have? Have you tried doing a full reset and re-installing only what you need?

My battery is starting to get weak too. I just ordered an OEM replacement for less than $5 on Amazon. (Sounds like these batteries are starting to be hit or miss due to age though...) The new battery and ICS ROMS for my DX should keep me content until the next round of flagship phones are released.

I also just bought a $5 battery from Amazon. I now realize how swollen my original battery was (now that I see what this new on looks like( - prob to a point that the old one was dangerous!

Add me to the bought a new battery list, things are a little better and it keeps a charge longer - but I'm still looking forward to getting the new hotness next month!

I just got my new battery yesterday. I was hoping to hold out until the SGS3 arrives, but the battery went downhill quick! It started dropping 50% (i.e 80% to 30%) in a matter of minutes. It wasn't worth saving the $4 for a new battery. My old battery was swollen, but it was hardly noticeable looking at it. I could feel the slight bulging when I slid my finger over it though.

Two more weeks until SGS3 time...

I bought 2 extended batteries when they were first released and I switch them out on the first of every month. It cost me a little extra but I can go a whole day and then some with a full charge at the beginning of the day, and both batteries are still going strong.

However, I'm still waiting for additional info on Verizon next big phone, the Maxx HD. (if I live long enough) Haha!
