Battery life on your XE

Hi all, we know smartphone batteries take a pounding but recently I've had great battery life most of the time but a couple of days when I've gone from 100% to about 40% in aatter of 4 hours. Nothing running that shouldn't be I.e. no WiFi, GPS etc and the phone has literally just been in my pocket, no calls or even texts. No new apps installed and I can't think of why.

Anyone experienced the same or ideas on why it would dump power so quickly just now and then?

Cheers

Its just been few days I got my Sensation XE & i guess battery is a bit OK kind of... It last for single day i need to recharge it Daily. May be because its new phone so i use a lot :D but still every Smartphone now a days have poor battery !

Yeah mine usually gives me a full day but as said there have been these couple if times where the battery has lost over half its power in 3 hours with not even one call.

Another weird day. Fully charged, turned on at 8am and by 1pm I was on 30% with one five min call, four texts and beautiful widget updating weather once. Signal was showing as fine, wasn't struggling.

Day before same times and useage and at 7pm i was still on 79%. I think my phone has a split personality.

What does it show you under phone info > battery usage? Usually if you've been using the phone all day, display is the killer, closely followed by wifi/cell standby. If the battery has been disappearing while you haven't been using it, hopefully it'll be able tell you why.

Related query, in the battery > battery usage options, there's a visual graph at the top of the battery capacity going down, and there's a thin blue line underneath it. The line has some breaks and gaps in it, any idea what this represents?

if you touch the graph some more details comes up, there are a number of blue blocks relating to wifi, awake, screen on, gps etc. the blue line relates to these and when they are on/off

Battery life is extremely poor on the SXE. I could have 100% in the morning, make three or four 5 min phone calls and be down to 30%! But hey, thats just smartphones!

Ther's something not quite right there mate, no way should it be dropping to 30% with four 5 min phone calls. Whats your signal like, i found on my DHD that in poor signal area's the constant 2G>3G switching gave the battery a real pounding.

Welll maybe not 30%......more like 30-50. Definitely less than 60% because i was shocked and pissed off it was so low. On them particular occasions signal was 2G, although its the same with 3G. Overall talk time was no more than 30-40 mins.

Hi All, I bought a couple of 2500ma batteries off eBay, they seem to give me a much improved battery life, reasonable price as well. Phil

Hi

I bought a 2430mAH battery off Amazon last week because the battery was so poor. It's been great until today. Down to 9% left in 5.5 hours with 1 phone call lasting less than 8 mins. Battery usage shows voice calls 38%, Display 32%, Cell standby (what's that?) 16%, phone idle 14%.No wifi, no Bluetooth, no GPS.

Just adding some further battery usage info now that I've found it:-

Voice calls 40% for 8m 37s
Display 32% for 11m 23s
Cell standby 16% for 5h 31m 42s
Phone idle 14% for 5h 21m 29s

Cheers - Paul

Don't forget to cycle the New batteries, what you di is charge the battery to full then dissipate it till the phone won't switch on then rinse and repeat 3 times this allows the phone to track the life of the battery and also lengthens the battery life. Mine is taken off charge at 7.30am and with moderate usage (calls and apps + internet) lasts till 10pm with about 10% left in the tank. I sonno I've always done this with new phones and hasn't put me wrong :)

It also depends if you fully charged the battery when you first had the phone.

They always recommend giving it a good 8 hour charge before use otherwise it can drastically reduce battery charge.

So ideally your battery may only be running 1000mAh but will still show as 100% once charge, Just a thought...
