Battery life post ICS update?

Speaking of phone flipping from portrait to landscape, mine isn't, or at least not as often or as fast as it used to. Sometimes it just won't flip at all and it's in the same scenarios where it's flipped in the past. This has happened since upgrading to ICS but I can't say that it started at the same time. Phone is less than a month old.

Same here..
Screen taking up a higher percentage though even though my usage hasn't really changed.
Also running hotter.
Much smoother though, like flipping the phone from portrait to landscape is instantaneous for example.

Nice. No background data? Twitter, Facebook, Flipbook, etc? I need to try CDMA and see what kind odd life i get, cuz i get around 18 hours on a charge.but that's also several hours of screen on.

Don't use Twitter or Flipbook. Do use Facebook but not a lot.

The above did have over 6 hours of screen use included.

Mine sucks. I don't have a Maxx. Before ICS I could get 8-12 hrs or longer sometimes well over 15 hrs before it would get to 50%. I am now getting 4 hrs @ 50%. This sucks!

Depending on when Best Buy gets the SG3 in, I will not be dwelling long, but for whatever reason, the great performance on mine comes at battery and heat cost. Sleep drain is as good as before (great), so not a case of a rogue app and I started fresh with clean cache and factory reset.

Razr thin owners are closer to the rocks than Maxx owners, so we have to navigate around them and are more aware of the rocks. You fortunate Maxx owners sail OVER the rocks ;)

I don't have a Maxx, and believe me, the hit is VERY noticeable, and it's had like 2 weeks to adjust. Going to try an FDR today and see if that improves it. If that doesnt work, guess I'm carrying a charger with me

Initially, I had some battery life issues after the upgrade. Everything ran smoothly and I didn't have the heat issues others referred to, but the battery seemed to drain very quickly.

I ended up doing a factory reset last night (which, of course, is a necessity if you're going to complain) and I THINK battery life has been better. Why I've noticed is that idle battery life is incredible, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it's comparably worse when the screen is on. Even after playing World of Goo for a while, the battery suck seems to be coming from the display rather than World of Goo itself at what appears to be a higher rate than before.

I had great battery life with the ICS upgrade and made it like 40 hours with pertty heavy usage doing updates and playing with launchers. Then I worked, carried it in my pocket with minimal use, and my battery was dead in 12 hours completely. Tonight I worked and was down to 50% in 6 hours so plugged in but the amazon app store seems to be eating my battery now.

Do you guys think there will be a fix soon? I did a factory reset last night but haven't had the phone on yet today.

I have a maxx and my battery life was awful with ics also. I did a complete factory reset through the menu and this is what i have so far. 21 hours with 20% left. That's a lot better for me. I suggest you try a wipe

After a factory reset last night, the phone has been on for 34 minutes today and I'm at 80%. I don't think the reset worked for me :(

I noticed this too!!!

I've also gone the factory reset route and it has not helped. My DRM drops about 30% overnight. I've got some apps installed that let me look at what's running and using cpu, but so far nothing has popped out. I suspect that perhaps it is some app (or apps) that are causing other things to happen in the kernel. Perhaps something that is preventing it from sleeping. I'll be removing apps one at a time to see if I can find anything.

The thought just occurred to me that it might not be an app but a particular setting or combination of settings.

There was also another thread that was stared within the last day about a new build that leaked. That got moved to the all things root subforum. Speculation was that it was a battery fix.

Its sweet too lol. The new build is basically just a new kernel. So far im impressed. My phone obtains data much quicker after booting up, still too soon to say about battery life but im betting its better. Overall it seems snappier.

mine blows I get about 6 hours until 50% and its mainly screen.... everything is turned down / off etc....

I am not a happy camper with the battery life on my razr. It drains much faster. I am even running a few smart actions to turn off basically all data connections when it sits.
Still doesn't help.

battery life has gotten a little better for me but nowhere near what some of you are seeing. i was very unhappy with GB (seemed to be worse than my X with a 15 month old extended battery that saw the charger every night.) now it seems to be at least comparable to that phone. im at 80% @ 6.5 hours with screen on time of 39 minutes. screen is my highest battery sucker too.

I have a razr slim, I ordered the battery upgrade and after 2 month wait I finally got it, wow night and day difference I decided today I am going to see what it can do under normal use and so far 70% after 10hrs. And I am also running ics so I did a full wipe due to I forced ics not ota. Wow this battery make a good phone into a great phone, all you razr slim owners get the upgrade it is an easy install but it doesn't come with directions but common sense will get it done in about 20 minutes and 10 of them are you changing your pants because you are about to take apart a $600 phone that is not broken and without directions

Averaging about 8 hours. Probably because once my battery drops below 50% I stop touching my phone until I know I'm going home to charge it lol

Something someone just reminded me:

It is important to double check your apps and especially the sync settings after a factory reset. Many times people forget about things like this when they set the phone up again. Having certain apps sync or update too often can really drain your battery.
