So after reading some threads on this site and xda Last night I decided to not have google sync my calendar. (Since I never use it anyway) and also I went into google talk and unchecked the setting of automatically sign in (actually I unchecked everybox since I never use that as well) then before leaving google talk I pressed menu then sign out. Rebooted my phone. Also I have Facebook for Sense update only 1 time a day and the Facebook for android App update every 2 hours (Default is 1). I dont have Twitter, Flickr, news, or stocks signed in or sync. Also the weather widget updates every 3 hours.

I pulled my phone off the charger at 6am this morning and the battery has been amazing. I took a few calls and sent a some texts checked Facebook for Android about a dozen times then Used my phone as a hot spot for about 30 minutes. (I am Rooted with Unrevoked method and using WiFi Tether). So with moderate to heavy use I only have 3 green bars gone (from menu/settings/about phone/battery use) and it is 5pm now.

Thanks for all the info and I hope my settings can help other people as well. :D:rolleyes:

good for you :) glad to hear it! :) I was lucky I guess and never really had the battery issues lol

I actually TRIED to kill mine today..and it took all day and some extremely HEAVY use (including 720p recording and video calling) to get it to even die lol

Yeah. I think turning off google talk helped a lot. I took mine off the charger at 8am this morning and now I'm at 52%. A HUEG improvement over the past few days. Love this place.

I guess I never had my battery die on me (before 14hrs) but It did get really close, now I know I can put the phone to good use. Like not work when I'm at work now I can stream youtube or play games all day. I LOVE THIS PHONE.

I am trying to kill the last two I was testing and they wont die. The axing off google talk and the reboot has worked wonders on them..

We just need a root to remove sprints bloatware

If the OS had the ability to sleep, while allowing the device to still being able to recieve incoming calls, messages, clock functions (for time, and active alarms) or even email. Sometimes during the day, especially while at work only a regular phone is required. It may even be more efficient to allow the user to set what they want to use while leaving the rest in a suspended state.

Exactly my point. People need to do a little exploring and see what works for them. You also dont have to cripple ur phone by turning of all your settings. so do a little experimenting and youll find out that this battery is not bad.

Since I had to reboot my phone due to it having a seizure, I am hoping it will address my major battery issue

I did the Google talk thing before and I thought I did the same for each Facebook app. Its at 33% right now. Hopefully tomorrow will bring better news.

I've been out for a few days and haven't had any major problems (I work in front of a laptop all day so I can keep it charged throughout). Anyhow, I did a search in this thread, and I'm surprised that no one has tried UltimateJuice (requires JuiceDefender) yet. It's got glowing reviews, lots of claims of doubling battery life in the reviews, etc. As I said, I haven't tried it because I haven't run into any "damn, I wish I had more battery" issues yet, but I know many of you are. Give it a shot and let us know how it works!

One interesting quirk I've noticed is that the battery (or at least the indicator) likes to consume quite a bit of power when it first comes off the charger. I had my phone plugged in and at 100% literally about 12 minutes ago but it's already down to 94% without any meaningful usage. After about a half hour / hour, it'll move downward much more slowly. Interesting.

Great tips in here, by the way.

I've had my Evo for 48 hours now, and I agree, the battery life SUCKS!!! Sitting in my cube with it in my hoster, with ATK killing stuff, wifi, 4g, and bluetooth all turned off, I am already down one battery bar after a full charge last night. If I turn on 4g and wifi, while in the building, it will suck down the juice even faster, but that is true of any phone.
I am hoping either for a new type of battery or a firmware update to address this.

as it is now, I have a charger in the car and a microsusb cable in my cube for my laptop, but I've owned a lot of smartphones over the years, and I have never seen on suck down the battery like this.

Im not sure if my battery is finally "conditioned", but I am seeing alot better standby time right now.

I am at 96% from being off the charger at 8am, with a little web and text in between. The last couple days I would already be at 90% at this time.

At one point my Cell standby was at 2%....not even sure how that happened.

Ok I have a question...and I keep getting mixed answers from this. Is it ok or not ok to let the battery drain fully then fully charge it? Does that harm the phone or help it?

Does not harm it at all. May help but that's an old battery thing. Newer batteries do not need to be full charged/discharged.

So i have had the phone for a week now and battery life has been so so. but i have been showing it off constantly and plugging it in doesnt bother me.

But last night i took it off the charger at 8pm, went to work at a bar where i let some friends play with it for a while. I showed some videos and some web surfing, texts, and a couple calls. 4g was too weak to use. when i got home at 3am phone was surprisingly still going in the green. when i went to bed i left it on silent. 4 hours later i was surprised it was still on to be honest.

well it finally died at 12:45pm today and battery info said 16hr35min. now i dont expect it to last this long often, especially under heavier use.. BUT.. i was impressed and the last hour i was trying to kill it 4g.

Thought i would share.. decent battery life is possible.

Off charger at 5AM Sat. Everything except WiFi turned off (GPS, autosyncs, 4G, email, etc...) In other words exactly like my iPhone is set-up. Checked phone only twice since then. At 5PM 88% (Ok, not bad), at 6 AM this morning....red light flashing and 5% battery. WTH?

Sorry, I'm just not going to jump through hoops to basically turn into a dumb phone. Esp. not with the 'premium data fee'. Sorry...maybe next time around. For now it's back at Sam's where I picked it up Friday.

you got 24 hours and your complaining? what did the iPhone get?

Haha premium data fee has nothing to do with battery life. That's all Sprint. HTC should be the one you talk to.

Go back to Steve and tell him all about it. He'll just tell you how many Ipads he's sold and other useless stats.

I'm starting to wonder if all these new phones with batteries that don't last are by design. Think about it. If you have to watch you power usage then you watch your network/data use.

And with all the recent chatter about data use charges being restructured it's obvious the carriers want us to cut back on data even though they advertise other wise.

hmmmmmmm:cool:

I have google synced with contacts, but my phone contacts are not appearing on google when I go to the contacts page.

Any other way of doing it?

Edit: Can I just export to SD card then re-import them back in?

Best way to sync is over HTC Sync ! I don't use Google's contacts or calendars coz it's not the way I like it compare to Outlook.
So if you have your contacts and calendars managed by Outlook (2003-07 not 2010) then it is the best and fastest way via HTC Sync.

P.S. If you have newer office 2010 installed wich is not supported by latest HTC Sync (now v.2.0.33), you still may have Outlook 2007 installed, which will use the same folder for .pst (settings files) as 2010. I switch to Outlook 2007 when Evo plugged in for Synchronization.

does anyone know if i use the charger that came with my blackberry tour can be used to charge the evo? they are the came (micro, i think its called). but i didnt know if using a different brand would damage the battery or phone itself?

thanks in advance.
