How much percent of your battery goes from display?? mine is 70-80 and i think thats way too much.. how do you reduce? fyi- my screen is on low and its not on auto, no live wallpaper... and i got rid of my task killer b/c a lot of people said it does more harm then good!
Third Party applications were more damaging for sure. Samsung had a recommended way of stopping the process through the application manager with the Behold 2, they have a video on this tech talk they did discussing how to improve battery life with it.
I don't know the technical details of the Samsung installed task killer, however, if I have a question about a program, I have used it to stop processes. What's new in 2.2 update too is the ability to clear some ram unused ram up that was previously being used. I haven't studied up on this much myself. However, these options seem to help and be safe as they are factory installed.
My display percentage of frequent texting/calling today, is 60%.
As I have stated in another thread, that I duly think should be a sticky. I have stopped using the default messenger app in favor of one that I can have more control over, especially notifications. If I get a text from someone important to me, it can light up the display, it can vibrate, send sound notification of choice (if not on silent) per individual I choose. I use Handcent, you can probably do the same with ChompSMS.
However, if you use the default factory installed messenger app, and you have it to give you notifications of new text message, like who wouldn't want that, it will always fire up your display, per each text you get. If you get a lot of texts throughout the day, it would be in your favor to change to a third party messenger app, where you can disable the default notification feature, and you can control when you want the display to light up.
Give that a try. and hopefully that should help you out too in extending some battery life. On some tests I have done and reported here, I went from probably 5% per hour to 2% per hour of battery use. Of course, that varies based on what you are doing, but my initial and continuous use I find it to be the best way to approach that.
